Seen that clip somewhere before but will never get tired of watching it, a nice start to the day, thanks for posting Moggy.

As an amature collector IMHO the seat is in fine shape and would be worthy of the asking price if that is what you really wanted.
Lets face it if you were to spend a number of years around aerojumbles, scraping nuckles and swearing trying to get boxes of bits to fit together I bet you could end up spending 750 and end up with something that looks like the real thing but isn’t.
As for the coffee table, there is no imagination or creativity with this piece that would warrent such a high asking price but then like others have said, if thats what they really want and can spare the cash then thats their choice.

Yes thinking about it that sounds quite right as it is further back than a rear seat would be.
Thanks for everyones input.
John.
Think it’s an Il-28
I think you might be right but to add a twist to things the footage might be a splice of two aircraft.
The close up of the ejection is from a tandem two seater as you can clearly see the seat guide rail from the back seater who has ejected moments before the front seater.
As far as I know the Il-28 only had one cockpit and the other two crew comprised of rear gunner and nav/bomb aimer.
The mystery deepens!!!!!.
John.
The SU-25UB was the trainer version I think, both seats are in the conventional location at the front fuselage, what is confusing me about this video clip is that he is ejected aft of the tailfin.

Talking to one of the chaps at Cosford about the TSR.2 they have there he was very informative and spoke in great depth about what hapenned with a few bits in the aftermath.
One thing I do remember him mentioning was that Roland Beamont was awarded the stick top from the flyer (XR219) and one was also gifted to Jimmy Dell, this is not to say that yours is not from the flyer as they could have used more than one.
The stick top from XR220 at Cosfrod is held in thier stores so if you contact them then you wll be able to find out exactly what the serial number is for cross reference.
When the project was cancelled and everything was scrapped and a lot of the paperwork was also burnt to destroy sensative information, construction records will most certainly have been destroyed and this would be the best place to look to find out exactly where your stick top came from.
Oh and by the way, just for the record, I am jealous as hell !!!!!!!!!!!.
Kindest regards,
John.
Some lovely shots there PL, I love to see these type of pictures from an engineering point of view.
To me it’s not just whats on the outside that makes an aircraft interesting.

The Gnat panel always reminds me of the Lightning panel, and it is supersonic too……now where did I hide my winning lotto ticket 😀 😀 .

Like I have always said, the tail fin should be save and mounted at Newark Air Museum as a piece of ‘modern art/monument’ to her.
The rest is only good for scrap.

Vulcan and Buccaneer flying in the UK, 2007 bring it on!!!!!!!!!.
John.
IMHO it is worth what you are prepared to pay for it, some may consider 14K way out of reach and unreasonable for something that may require a few more pennies spent on restoration.
Someone though with vision and enthusiasm may look at it with the idea that ‘where else are you going to get a complete Lightning?’, lets face it they dont come up for sale that often! so 14k might to them be nothing in terms of the grand plan.
Would be interestng to know how much XS420 at Farnborough recently went for as a comparison.

Looks like a fairly low speed accident judging by the small area the debris is spread over and the majority of the airframe is still intact.
Any news on the crew?
John.
On the lunchtime news today, one Tornado (type unknown) on excersize from RAF Marham practicing over Holbeach bombing range.
Parachutes where seen at around 1100 hours and two crew recovered to hospital, no casualties on the ground.
These are the bare facts at this time and my thoughts go out to the crew and their families.

Blimey, 14K makes the amounts we payed for 728 and 904 sound cheap, and ours were both flown in all working with no stripping and transport costs.
Ummmmm, I hope the potenstial buyer knows the implications 🙂
Pleased I am not the only one that noticed that!!!.
John.
Pants :p .
