Hi,
I have tried clearing cookies on both firefox and IE and still cant get it very strange.
And many thanks to both of you, for your information. About P-51 Mustang “Ferocious Frankie”, it’s much appreciated. Eddie
Sorry guys, I seem to have deleted, the post you replied to of mine. Many apologies about that. Eddie
Is there, any news on when PA474 will be ready to be test flown ? I heard on Facebook, that it’s overhaul was behind schedule ?
I presume flying in May is out the question now ? I can’t wait to see it fly in it’s new Scheme and Markings, at Airshows when it does )) I hope it
makes the Cosford Airshow. As I am going to Cosford Airshow, for the first time this year, particularly to see the BBMF Lancaster and 4 Spitfires Display.

A women on Facebook on the “BBMF Official group” said she saw the BBMF Dakota Spitfire and Hurricane in formation
in Lincolnshire on Friday, from her car. Did anyone else on this forum see them ?
Any info would be appreciated.
I went to the show on Saturday and I really enjoyed it, so many highlights it was great
to see the Avenger and Especially the Grumman Wildcat after many years absence,
Love the sound of it ! big rattle on takeoff, also the Dakotas very spirited display didn’t realise it could be that agile and that classic sound. Also the Spitfires dogfight with the two buchons, I love that unique Messerschmitt whistle, which is different to the one the Mustang does, anyone else notice that ? Even though the Buchon is Merlin powered it still sounds slightly different to the Spitfire. The sound of the Mustangs on takeoff is awesome, are they louder than certainly the Merlin powered Spitfires due to being heavier, and therefore the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine having to work harder ? and or because of the Massive Propellor ? Great to see the BBMF’s newly restored MK XVI clipped wing Spitfire too. Also Glorious weather I kept having to apply suncream it was that hot !
“eddywinch82 – i thought i read somewhere that it had more to do with a brake problem on touchdown which caused her to veer to one side, rather than a crosswind?!”
It might well have been that I am just going on what I read in my BBMF book, the incident definately happend at the 1992 Mildenhall Air Fete, not a good year for UK airshow incidents with the BBMF Spitfire IIA P7350 engine failure on takeoff and subsequent forced landing at RAF Chivenor Airshow and of course the Rolls-Royce Spitfire XIV RM689 Crash at the Woodford Airshow.
That incident was at the Mildenhall Air Fete in May 1992 with the BBMF Lancaster PA474, caused by a strong crosswind on the day, not sure if it was on the Saturday or Sunday. I remember reading about it in a book I have on the BBMF.

The above clip is unreal, a Spitfire in formation with a Sopwith Camel at low level at Wanaka in 2004. I believe
Nigel Lamb is at the helm of the Spitfire incredible flying and feat
Hope you enjoy it !
Here is a link to the two Video clips I found on youtube, with the BBMF trio

Eddie:)
Thankyou for your’e reply,
Ive read reports that the BBMF trio of Dakota Spitfire and Hurricane or another
Spitfire, have Flown as a trio at venues including Dunsfold, Shoreham, Biggin Hill,
Broughton and possibly more based on airshow reports ive read so hopefully there is footage from these events, although ive yet to find any on youtube. I Would really like to see that at Southport. At the 2009 airshow the Dakota flew through first then the Fighters flew head on towards the crowd, before breaking and doing their solo displays. It was also tried at Southend’s Airshow in 2009 with The Lancaster and fighters. If only Avspecs Mosquito could be bought by the BBMF, BAe’s was going to be it was said at one stage, I would love to see one displaying once again at British Airshows.:)
I love Spitfire Ale, “The Bottle of Britain” as they say, Probably my favourite
real ale, I would love to try Thwaites “Lancaster Bomber” sometime.
