Was this the one that was used in Piece Of Cake, I presume it is. I’m surprised that given the impetus to spitfire, and hurricane preservation in this country following the BoB film, that more examples of this type have’nt been restored. Interestingly enough, while sorting through some boxes in the garage yesterday, I found a copy of the Southend Air Museum programme from about the late 70’s. In that, they advertise their Casa 111 as being available for film work, well, I recall at the time that it was in a right state, with birds nests everywhere, cloud cuckoo land methinks.

The one that crashed was G-AWHA an ex BoB aircraft

the Southend machine G-AWHB also ex-BoB is currently undergong restoration to fly at a secret location in the UK she will transit to the US for a collection whos name has just fallen in to the deep dark recess in the bit of the brain we loose all the important info into…

just as an aside, what are the differences between the Heinkel and the CASA? I know engines and thus engine systems are diferent, but is there anything else?

One has German instruments the other Spanish…

    Hi Curlyboy

The DC-3 was more than likley AMPY en-route to Southend for one of our regular flights on behalf of Leger Holidays.

    Tom.

I was just about to ask whos DC3 buzzed my garden very nice site it was too, any news of flights out of Southend yet?

Going a bit off topic but only slightly…

Seem to rember a film about a “giant” airplane that lands on a hillside and gets stranded seem to recall that there is a criminal eliment to the flight but the strangest thing of all is I seem to rember the aircraft was a Beverley! possibly set in Canada?

Old fart… the web site you want is here… http://www.reynardnursery.co.uk

Go to the news section and watch the tv clip… http://wm.stv.tv/210407plane.wmv

Like I said, I think it’s a really nice idea but £400 per night sounds a bit much to me! Looks like they’re currently waiting to get the required planning permissions!

    Cheers

Hurricane LF363 preformed a display at the ATC Lasham open day in Hampshire, she then came to Southend taking everyone by suprise she made an amazing low pass not much more the 200ft off the deck just off the apron aera, banked up over the workshop before returning to buzz the runway and joining the circuit to land, she either went into Airlivery of ATC Lasham (Southend)
