The Catalina was scrapped at Southend in November 1960
–o–0–o– thanks for posting those pics of AGPG the first Anso I sat in, at Southend Museum she did go to Brenzett then I nelve BAe took her on for restoration the frame dose not look to be in too bad nick nice to see she has a roof over her head.

Lift time now expected 10:30am
The lift time has been changed now due 10:30 when I’m out DOH!

Was on the (extended time) second flight some thing about ATC delays not that i’m complaning!
well worth the long trip up from Southend, got up at 4:00am! to get a train to Basildon to get a car to the airport…
did not get back home untill about 10:00pm just been down Southend sea front to see what remains of the pier head after last nights fire sad sight indeed.
Most of the wood has gone luckly the iron work looks like it surrived the worst of it.
From what I can rember the Prentice was built to replace the Proctor which did suffer from a problem of going in to spins, the up turned wing tips helped… I think.

The forts “kills” were recorded as:
1 E-Boat
22 Aircraft
31 V1 Doodle Bugs
Just think how many of the wrecks still litter the sea bed of the Thames Estuary sadly the salt water and tidal movement will probably have destroyed much of them.
Posted them here as they are Anti-Aircraft forts…and they are old…
