The last flight of the Lincoln was on Tuesday 9th May 1967 from the Collage of Aeronautics at Cranfield to Southend.

The aircraft was one of the last to fly in the UK as it was not on charge with the RAF who retired thiers in May 1963 No151 Signals Command.

RF398 at Cosford is said to have made the last UK Lincoln flight in 1968 anyone know when the argies retired thiers?

What ever is eayest for you would be great you MUST let me know how much.

If its the pier head fire that was on (the folling is from my site)

Thursday 29th July 1976: Fire destroys the Pier head 50,000 gallons of water was pumped on to the fire by two fire tugs, these were later joined by five more, Ladi Mormol dive bombed the pier with his crop sprayer dumping 400 gallons of water at a time swooping down to 100ft, the flames were at time leaping 100+ foot into the air, 500people had to be rescued by the pier trains but just two were injured.

The museum also had the launch track of a Flesler FI103 (V1 FLYING BOMB) this was owned by the Historic Aircraft society,
which was the group that ran the museum the track was sent to the London War Museum.

A good few years of working making that list as complete as possible, they were the aircraft that were displayed at the museum, there was also a number of aircraft that were owned, on loan or offerd to the museum but never went on public display, I need to find the list as I have lost it some where in the mess called my bedroom!

    Pete,

I am building a web site all about thew Southend Museum what I lack is photos any chance of getting copy of your pics please any others you may have of the museum would also prove invalubale.

The site has been under construction for what seems like the last billion years! had a few disaters where it was virtually ready to go “live” when the hard drive burnt out and everything was lost over 100 page web site! (not all the museum)

Had it all ready to go a few months back had more or less enough cash to get it on line when I had a few emergenct expenses hence no site on line yet.

I am looking at paying for the web space with all up-loading, maintanace, a .com address, POP3 e-mail with 30mb of space £60 per year, if I cant pull the money together I will hijack my brother free blueyonder space as he is never going to use it.

BEPS has three enginbes fitted an the forth is zero houred sitting in its box inside the aircraft, there are plenty of spare engines arround so they will both be flying for some time to come.

Much that it would be nice to have at least one retired to the Uk I cant see it happening.
