At Southend Airshow last year the RAF Falcons had just jumped and landed the Herc came round for its usual pass when some Scouser behind me jumped to he’s feet pointed at the aircraft and jumped up down down shouting:

    “Thats a f***ing Nimrod that is a f***ing Nimrod”

after picking myself up from the bottom of the cliffs with my sides split through laughter I sat back down trying not to laugh.

A trip to West Malling 10th and last with a now ex-mate he said the Spitfire was American, thought the Hurricane was a Typhoon but to top it all pointed at Sally B and said it was a modified Lancaster!

Never understand why people slag off (not always here) the free Sea-side show at Southend,

yes it might not be a warbirds or heavy metal show but four hours of free flying cant be bad.

I do not wish to sound rude but have you actually read any of my posts on this subject.

I have NOT once said I am going to fly it, the bloke I am building it for probably will not fly it even if he dose nobody will get hurt if he slams it into the ground at a million miles an hour as he lives on a farm only if somebody is trespassing will they be hurt should it be flown and hit the bit of ground they are standing on.

I have disabilitys myself and find great joy in building models, this is the first R/C model I have built even though it is not for me even though it will not fly I will not be cutting corners as I take pride in my work.

I am doing the Fokker too, Made the mistake of going through the publisher though they took TWO months to clear a cheque and in the mean time sent me a letter demanding payment.

The warbirds will operate out of Dux the military stuff will operate out of thier own bases none of the military aircraft will fly over Dux.

the only place to see these tri-stars, vc10s, tornados stc etc will be The Mall.

I have said its over priced and the problems about flying the thing but he will not budge on the matter.

Would you turn down free booze in return for making a R/C Spitfire over 60 weeks, and its going to a ex-Spitfire pilot so its going to have a good home (non-flying) the Radio gear is free its just the engine that the bloke will have to get extra.

He might even be able to get one off e-bay cheep so he will save money there, another plus is I get to keep all the plans, instructions and book all about the Spitfire so I cant loose.

No offence but like I said its not my money, I did say that other models were avalabe but theguy has set his heart on this one, as he is paying why should I demand he change his mind, but more important than the matter at hand is I am getting beer money for doing it free drinks in the pub untill its finished you cant grumble at that :p
