To me they are better looking than their german relative but still retain the rugged fighter look of the 109.Just shows how good the original 109g series was.

According to my ref it should have an allison v17-10 of 10040hp so about the same hp as an early merlin.

Must admit they are one of the most under rated aircraft but have one of the best aviation family lines. My opinion of course!

The discovery, recovery and burial of missing aircrew is one thing and generally to be applauded. But please spare us the gruesome detail.

I visit the museum on a fairly regular basis and visited on 22nd as part of our local bbc stations Big Day Out where heritage sites within our county just for one day open for free. The weather was poor so just would like to know how the day went for howard and the team.

Maybe Roobarb could let you have a 25ml tin of the paint.:)

I have decided to mix the paint using pics out of the mag and off the net.Looks like its not accurate rlm colour.

From what has been mentioned and i don,t know a lot about aircraft construction that starting again from scratch would possibly the only option.I totally agree that the wapiti is a very much over looked aircraft in terms of a replica weather flying or not.

Its a shame nothing has come of it,the westland wallacewapiti is one of my favorite large biplanes.May be one day some one will continue with it or start a new build replica.

just been looking at some in service footage of vulcans and there does indeed seem to be more than one shade of grey used.

As others have said there is something wrong with the pictures. The close up of the roundal area for me is a little odd.The structure appears right but the paint work is in a condition i would not expect. Also surely the cockpit would have more sand in it if the canopy was left open for 70 odd years.Somebody prove me wrong!
