Clifford Bull’s comment is interesting re the “…Birchfeild private housing estate near Lincoln….”; I’ve never heard of a “Birchfeild “ (Birchfield) Housing Estate in Lincoln!

I’ve heard of a Birchwood Estate that was built on part of the former RAF Skellingthorpe site (two small displays around that area re-the airfield) – but then I’ve never heard of all these items that were uncovered when it was built.

However if you moved off site from there out towards the River Trent then perhaps there’s another story to be told! 😉 Maybe I ought to contact the Telegraph!! :diablo:

What about the buried lanc under hanger 2 at NAM!

PZ865 is the last Hawker Hurricane off the production line at Hawkers. There have however been other Hurricanes (re)built since 1944. It may be in a book (or not). Hurricane news ends.

I think he means the current rebuild.

I was told a while back that the engine fitted would be the packard merlin266 that was fitted to mk356 prior to its rebuild a few years ago so she should be a genuine 16.Weather that is still the case i,m not sure may be fluffy can tell us more.

I think i am right in saying that next year at legends marks the tenth anniversary of the sad loss of the aircraft and its crew.

Why don’t the RAF undertake such a task of overhauling there own aircraft?

In the case of the bbmf they dont have the manpower to do a full overhaul so its best to contract out to arco where all the services are available to do the work in house.
