    His Mentioned in Despatches (MiD) was for operations in Waziristan, during the period 16th December, 1937, to 31st December, 1938

    IIFC It is being re-built in NZ – The Serial number (and thus History) is unknown at the moment (or was the last time I saw any new published about it) which was in Classic Wings

    A few facts, the injured civilians were on the ground!

    1) It appears that the Pilot was flying solo. The Times has his name as Captain J Fepui (probably a typo), a French test pilot who was flying from Boscombe Down (I wonder if he was ETPS Staff or Pupil) . No other crew mentioned

    Also killed was a would be rescuer. Mr Charles Penman (aged 55) who is thought to have had a heart attack

    Blazing fuel injured Mr. Robert Meecham (aged 52) the proprietor of the garage and Mr. Arthur Hopkins (aged 40) who had called at the garage for petrol. These two names are on the website here: http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=21026 they were not on the Canberra!

    Any one what to hazard a guess for a possible ‘likely’ Serial number for Hurricane IIb XP-L – I assume she is not going to have RCAF 5403 on the side

    Have asked this before, but while at Flying Legends this year. The comentator said that the Nose of the Spitfire Mk9 was 9″ Longer than the early types eg Mk5?

    Is this correct?

    Or did the commentator at legends actually say “Zee nose of zee Spitfirer mk Neuf est 22.5 centimeters longer than zee early types eg Mk Cinq”
