A goodly number of great pictures have been posted over the last few days. So a little bit more nostalgia.

I have taken DHFAN’s advice and posted these as jpegs so they should load faster.

    1 Noratlass 172 coded 61-NV
    2 T-33A 51-4415 coded TR-415 (was in scrapyard at Lasham 09/67)
    3 C-141A Starlifter
    4 B-66 Destroyer 54-0520 coded BB-520
    5 RF-101G Voodoo 54-1455
    6 C-54E-15-DO Skymaster 44-9146

Thanks for all your comments, unfortunately I am still no wiser.

The picture must have been taken between 1932 – 1935 as this is the period the fury and Bulldog were operated by these squadrons.

1 S was at Tangmere – did not have Belfast hangars.

25 S was at Hawkinge, which did have Belfast hangars.

    29 S was at Duxford.

So could this be a picture of Hawkinge?

There used to be one in The Science Museum hanging from the roof. Is that still there or is the one at Lutterworth that one that has been moved?

One or two more from those days.

    1 Douglas C-47A-5-DK Dakota G-AGYZ
    2 Airspeed AS-57 Ambassador G-AMAG
    3 Miles Marathon G-AMGR
    4 De Havilland DH-114 Heron 1B G-APKW
    5 Bristol 170 Freighter MK31E EC-AHN
    6 Douglas C-47A-90-DL Dakota EI-AFC

I think most of these were taken at Heathrow.

    Stormbird262,

Firstly my apologies for calling you Stormrider – yet another senior moment!

Thanks for information about the film, I must try and obtain a copy.

One or two more pics for everyone.

    1 Westland Pterodactyl V K2770
2 Vickers type 253, which crashed at Brooklands 23/07/35 K2771
    3 Vickers type 246 private venture O-9 PVO-9

Note both K2771 and PVO-9 were to specification G.4/31 but PVO-9 was far superior to K2771 and later evolved into the Wellesley.

4 Avro Tutor nearest is K3262, which crashed 02/12/35
    5 De Havilland DH-88 Comet K5084 ex G-ACSS
    6 Avro Tutor

I suspect these were taken at Hendon in 1934

    Stormrider,

J8615 was a Hawker Horsley II.

I missed the film you are discussing. What was it called?

One or two more. All the photographs I have posted on this thread appear to be taken at Hendon 1936/1937. Just a couple of years before I was born so they were not taken by me.

    1 Avro 671 Cierva C.30P autogiro G-ACIN
    2 Hawker Hind K5514 of 104 Squadron coded C
    3 Gloster Gladiator 1 K6133 of 72 Sqadron coded F
    4 Bristol Blenheim 1 K7057 of 114 Squadron
5 Vickers Vildebeest iv K8082 of 42 Squadron
6 Vickers Victoria or Valencia I think Victoria but I am not sure.

    Alex,

You are quite right it should be 600 Squadron not 60 squadron.

On 10 June Stormbird 262 supplied four photos and stated the fourth one was a Boulton Paul Balliol. The Balliol was a much more beautiful aircraft. This is actually a DH.93 Don.

    Couple of photos

The first is of C-133B 59-0536 taken at the SAC Museum at Offutt on 29/11/92. I believe the museum has moved a few miles since then.

The second is C-133A N201AR at Mojave, which was stored there with N136AR and seen in April 1997.

Biggib Hill 1986 should be Biggin Hill 1987

As Duxfordhawk thought all the photos published as being at Biggin Hill 1986 were in fact at Biggin Hill in 1987 and not 1986. I have just checked the show reports to confirm this and that my records are correct.

I will see if I have any slides worthy of being posted and if so will scan them in and post them.

I believe RNAS Stretton near Warrington was changed to a prison quite a few years ago too.

I can remember flying from Stretton, Full Sutton and Lindholm, although it is a few years ago now. The first two as an ATC cadet!

What nostalgia! Brings back memories of ground running victors at 0200hrs. Hated having to jack them 3′ in the air to fit Blue Steel though. It was all man power in those days. I think XL231 is the only aircraft still around that I actually worked on.

    Pleasekeep the pictures coming.
