I have checked the Scramble list for the show at Wethersfield on 9th May 1962 and as you say 55-3693 is on the list. As soon as I can I will check with the database I use as this says it crashed in Lybia on 4th March 1958!
Also taken at that show I have a couple of the Frecce sabres. Does anyone have a tie up between the codes they wore and their serials?

Just realised I made a mistake with the caption for the first pic, which I have now corrected, it should have read 55-3693 not 55-5693. This shot could not have been taken in 62 as the a/c was written off on 4 March 1958.
