I had a word with the Captain of my flight back from EDI today (reprt soon) and he said that bmi wanted to get rid of the ATR asap! lol
Doesn’t surprise me bmi-star. They spent so long marketing themselves as being an “all jet fleet” when I was there so it must be dissapointing to have to use an ATR. They always used to think there fleet was the best Regional Jet fleet as it was all jet.
Lets see how long it takes to certify the EMB135 into LCY then shall we?
Hey, i don’t no if it is the winter season now, but i was up at EMA last week and they still have 2 767’s up there..if thats any help 🙂 I’v been trying to get a decent picture of them for a while now..il get it one day!
Its officially Charter Winter season from Nov 1st, so not quite yet. I’m praying they’ll still have at least one 767 there when I go in a couple of weeks then. Cheers for the info!

Excellent report, no you HAVE to do this, and if so why?! I can’t remember ever having to do so on my transatlantic flights.
Cheers guys!
The window blind thing I guess is a preference for each airline. Its not an official requirement as far as I know. I guess they just wanted everyone to be allowed to sleep if they chose to.
The only official requirement with any airline I’ve worked for has been to have them fully open for landing incase the crew couldn’t see out of there own windows for any reason in a emergency evacuation. Its more a UK think, most US carriers don’t seem bothered if they open, closed or hanging off when your landing over there 😮
Whats happening with EAL’s 732’s these days then? Are they all doing AD-HOC work or are they doing anything on a regular basis other than Palmair? The poor crew’s must not know whether they are coming or going, redundant one minute then working the next.
God love the 732’s! The most frightening thing I’ve ever been on other than the BAC1-11 of Maersk Air (BHX). The last time I was on a 732 it was BA from BHX about 7 yrs ago and I nearly had to reach for the ear plugs on take-off, never mind worrying that the windows were about to drop out with the vibration! Bless em!

It wouldn’t surprise me if these 737s are just wet leases. Otherwise flybe will have another aircraft type to operate which is obviously uneconomical especially considering the small number to be added to the fleet. Not to mention the retraining of cabin and flight crews.
However, if they are to be operated by flybe I bet the 146 crews will be fighting to get on them!
I actually think they might well be planning on operating them with Flybe cabin crew at least. They’re doing a massive Cabin Crew recruitment drive at the moment for BHX. Can’t get enough crew I’m told, and it can’t be for the 146’s or the Dash fleet cos very often they only operate with 2 crew members. Maybe they’ll have flight deck contracted in from somewhere else? Who knows!

BY have had a 767 operate to/from EMA quite often over the summer. I was kinda hoping they might carry on using one through the winter, hoping they might have an aircraft available if they don’t do much long haul.
Its usually one of the older 200’s that appears at EMA.

I guess it puts all the rumours to bed of Flybe and bmibaby merging or being taken over then doesn’t it.
The old Bish won’t be happy about all this competition for baby. At least there will be some good competition on fares for us consumers anyway.
