    spacemaid,

Depends what class you travelling. If your in Economy, it will be complimentary drinks (inc. alchohol), tea & coffee and biscuits (very good biscuits at that!), unless its first thing in the morning when you’ll get a savoury breakfast croissant or similar.

If your in business, you’ll get the bmi version of all-day deli called “Food on the go”. Its pretty good food, although all in throw away boxes, similar to that of BA but better quality and more of it than the BA economy all day deli.

All bmi flights with the exception of Jersey have a 2 class cabin and business class always get a hot or cold meal dependant of the time of day.

On longer routes, i.e. MAD or PMI, you’ll get a cold meal/snack in economy. This usually consists of Pasta Salad and a while ago they had some really good ice cream to follow that.

With regard to the JER flights being so expensive and no meal, its usually because of it being so short, one class cabin and they want to sell Duty Free (one of the very few routes bmi sell duty free on) rather than serve complimentary meals. Also, the JER flights are usually quite expensive because of demand. A lot of the Blue Rinse tour operators take large numbers of seats on these flights, therefore bumping up the price to joe public!

    Hope this helps?

I’m sure the 330’s are much more reliable than the 300’s, but as I said, the ground staff seem to have no idea how far in advance they should start boarding 300+ people. Maybe they’ll get the hang of it eventually!

topjet – TCX sounds better then. I might have to sample it on their MAN-YVR next year.

The 400’s had all more or less gone when baby was launched. Baby never wanted them anyway, they wanted to be like all the rest of the loco’s with good old -300’s. One of the last to go from I remember was ‘MM and boy did we praise the day! Had a regular habit of being tech whenever I went near it! lol!!!

The -500’s will be next, a couple gone already. The minute they were put into baby colours, they started going tech too. The crew hate them to work on. I think they were drafted in for the thinner routes like EMA-EDI/GLA as an after thought. Again, it was never in the master plan to operate the 500’s either.

Spence, I think your jumping the gun a bit there matey!

If you click on book flights, you’ll see BHX is still there. Having worked for bmi for years, I can say that the e-commerce team there are notoriously slow at doing anything. They probably haven’t added BHX to the route network yet as they don’t actually fly from BHX yet!

Secondly, I heard from old friends at bmi that they have done really well with recruitment of crew for the new BHX base and everything is going to plan (including nicking a few aircraft from other bases to operate the BHX flights!).

    Don’t panic…. they’re coming!

Nice report Pembo. Glad to see Thomas Cook are still keeping up appearances with their cabins. Last time I flew with them was BHX-PFO-BHX when they’d just become JMC and the I have to say, the interiors were excellent then too. Maybe it was the novelty of “unwrapping it piece by piece” as there ad used to say!

green320: Cheers! Yes, I’ve always been a Monarch fan. SFB is probably nice, I only saw it from the arriving point of view. I left from MCO on the way out instead.

Pembo: Thanks again! I haven’t experienced MYT or TCX, but I did see the TCX + flight report on here and it did look much nicer than MON. Had to laugh about the A330 leaving on time!!! Its probably true, however, I think in our case it was caused by the ground staff starting boarding way too late. 25mins ish before departure isn’t really sufficient for an A330 is it. 😮

    Airline Owner –

Just the B737-300. Apparently they did the proving flight on a chartered Titan Airways 733, amazing you can get your AOC by using another airline’s aircraft isn’t it!
