    Fantastic pics!

Madrid is great for seeing some of the South American carriers that don’t venture into the UK.

I highly doubt it, they wouldn’t be able to fill a B737 on the route.

A good indicator of this is the aircraft types used on the route. bmi use a ERJ-135/145 and BA use a Dash 8.

Got to agree with you there. The GLA-MAN-GLA pencil jet service was very rarely full in recent years other than peak times (Monday mornings, Friday evenings etc).

I really don’t think it would be a wise move to slap a 737 on it, and I really don’t think baby management would be even contemplating that. There’s far more money to be on the sunshine routes!

Think most of the charters now opt for Punta Cana (PUJ) for that part of the Domincan Republic.

I seem to remember SDQ is a tiny airport, although quite a major one for the area. If its anything to do with charter, I would imagine the tour operators find it easier to ship the punters out from PUJ than SDQ off to their resorts.

FCA are definately using PUJ this season, and I think XLA are too.

Servisair don’t hire and fire depending on seasons mate 😉

If that were true Sandy, why would they only recruit on Temporary Summer Contracts???

I think you’ll find they do increase their headcount in the Summer, when they’re busier, as they did when I worked for them and as they still do.

    😉

For what its worth, I personally would go with Aer Lingus given the choice.

If you think about it, Servisair are always busier in the Summer due to demand from extra charter flights. These charter flights will be far less frequent in the winter, therefore they need less staff. Fair enough they might handle the odd scheduled airline too, however, there are always a handful of old-timers at Servisair who’ll be trained on scheduled check-in and they’re probably permanent with Servisair by now. The summer temps at Servisair only usually get to do charter check-in. Scheduled is a bit more prestige for the permanent staff you see. This is how it was a BHX when I was there anyway.

As for Aer Lingus, at least being scheduled there operations should be more consistant year round and hopefully you’ll be as experienced as the permanent staff. If you’ve done a good job, there should be no reason, subject to head count, why they don’t keep you on. Hopefully they won’t be ditching heaps of flights in the winter too.

    Good luck whatever you decide!

Yeah I know what you mean. Neglecting MAN too! 🙁

There punctuality from MAN is awful, they really need to sort it out.

I still have many friends working at WW. Most of them say the delays are down to the fact that they inherited the fleet cast-off’s of bmi mainline. In the other words, the clapt out 737’s that main line didn’t want any longer.

Unfortunately, they’ve had some bad delays due to various objects and vehicles hitting their aircraft too.

As for the crew, from what I hear, its bad moral at most bases except EMA and BHX. Lets be honest, if any one of us had to wear their original uniform, we wouldn’t be happy either! Their crewing department mess them around a lot too.

I totally agree with an earlier comment about them not being cheap. I’ve often found the full service carriers are cheaper than bmibaby!

I would have hoped the new MD would sort them out a bit, but looks like things will be exactly the same.

Looking good for CWL then. Is the Air Transat flights still on the go?

I believe it was being sold by Globespan. Doesn’t appear on their schedules anymore, so looks like it may have been dropped.

You would have thought Candian Affair would have stepped in with a TCX special config 757 on the CWL-YYZ route maybe?

I agree, they were nice when they were new OneLeft. I remember the F70’s & F100’s we had at bmi. I especially loved the F70, we called it the pocket rocket for obvious reasons.

I think after a good few years of flying and passenger use, the bmi F100’s seemed especially tired and the last two or three rows were incredibly noisey.

Word on the street is that the cabin crew met last week and VERY impressed. Trainign starts VERY soon. Programme looks very interesting and all doubters will be silenced!

Believe it when I see it but seriously credible source. Be prepared to have red faces if this lot does fly!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. does anyone else know anyone who went?????

Mmmm, something tells me the “Fly whatever” PR department are at work again as the only people who’ll listen to them are on various forums.

Seems they are posting everywhere including pprune

Is anyone really interested anymore though?! lol!

And can you tell me what is wrong with Fokker 100s???

Depends how near to the back your sitting! bmi offer ear plugs on their F100 flights to the passengers in the last couple of rows as you can’t hear a thing! Hehe!!! :p

I think they’re a great looking aircraft, but perhaps a little limited in range for a charter operator like TUI. You just don’t imagine them being much use to a charter airline like that. Obviously they’re not going to make the canaries or cyprus in an F100 are they. 😮

Ah! Must have missed it then.

Well, made for an interesting sight at BRU yesterday anyway. Although it didn’t seem to be going anywhere fast as it sat there for at least 2 hours late afternoon.
