Ah! Must have missed it then.

Well, made for an interesting sight at BRU yesterday anyway. Although it didn’t seem to be going anywhere fast as it sat there for at least 2 hours late afternoon.

I think that really suits the Monarch livery, looks fantastic!

Anyone know if they’re operating a Premium Cabin in it like they do on the A330?

Whilst I was still there, I seem to remember the 146’s also operated on the EMA-BHD route for a while, probably after the LH flights stopped.

Don’t think it lasted long. It was nice to see another type with BD at EMA for a while though.

Yep, great news for Durham Tees Valley, although I’m not sure how they are going to operate it, there isn’t any spare time left where the based aircraft could operate these flights, not at those times

Do you feel a “W pattern” coming on???!!! 😉

Anyone got any idea what they’re planning to use these additional aircraft on?

I know they’re famous for their “Middless East Express Shuttle” with double drops on nearly every route they do. Maybe they’ll operate more routes point to point now instead?

The main reason for EMA-LHR and BHX-LHR stopping was NOT due to competition from surface transport. The main reason why these two routes were dropped was slot contraints at LHR – put quite simply, it got to the point where there were no more conveniently timed slots available and the slots that those services used could be used more profitably by higher capacity aircraft operating on other BD routes.

    Andy

Correct with respect to BD. I think you’ll find the reason Community Express stopped their BHX-LGW was actually because they went bust though!

“PLEASE Jet2, start an LBA-LGW service!!!”

If you want Jet2 to survive in the future you need to avoid wishing for this route. Leeds is too well served by rail for flights to London. I know BD do well with LHR but this is because of people flying to LHR, not London.

There is no way Jet2 or anyone else can compete with the train to London.

Have to agree with you there totally.

Its pretty much the same argument with EMA or BHX to London. Airlines say its too shorter distance, however, the rail network is too greater competition and when you take into account check-in time at airport and increased security (albeit for our own good) its not really as quick.

Having worked for BD for years, I know what Vince is saying about people on the LBA going to LHR not London. There were many people on those services connecting onto other flights, however there were a lot of business travellers too but I don’t know where they go when they get off the flight!

Its a damn shame to see the LCY service go though.

    Excellent pics!

Nice to see a few different types at STN other than Ryanair and EasyJet.

Can’t believe bmi have done it again. 🙁

I hope the cabin crew and flight deck on the ATR aren’t going to be layed off because of this. bmi will be getting a poor reputation for messing about with routes and dropping them if they’re not careful.
