Lufthansa have been doing this a for a few years now, all flights operated by PrivatAir and I understand its been a great success from the smaller airports. The LH business only flights operate from DUS, MUC & HAM I believe and operate into EWR, ORD & JFK. They have used a mixture of 737BBJ and A319CJ’s on the routes.
The latest sign up to this scheme (before they were bought out) was Swiss who have just signed a deal with PrivatAir to operate a similar route, can’t remember which Swiss base its departing from though.
Really not sure how it will go down in the UK, but I would have thought there would be more opportunity and less competition from a regional airport rather than a London Airport with the big carriers and their trimmings (frequent flyer clubs, alliances etc).
Best of luck to them anyway.

The Eirjet 320 is the only one they have, do they not have any regular work for the summer season?
They haven’t even got a full compliment of Cabin Crew yet from what I’ve heard. Large failure rate on the course (hehe!)! Sorry, shouldn’t laugh.

Hmm, very strange. Seeing as they’re already receiving 3-5 new 738’s each month. We have loads of FR pilots living on our road, and 3 live oppopsite us. If I see them, I’ll ask them if they know any reasoning behind it.
Thats what I thought too. Thought would be all sorted on fleet, maybe not though!

[QUOTE=EGNM] With the increase in traffic on the route it was mooted that in the future this may be a route moved over to mainline for A319 operations once LBA has bedded the A320 family in on the LHR run and using LBA based crews (the current F100 crews are LBA based I believe whereas the previous B737 crews were LHR based – perhaps somebody can confirm?) [QUOTE]
Who knows there the F100 crews are based these days! 737 crews are all moved over to baby or moved on to pastures new.
I hear the HOTAC and taxi bill is ever increasing as per usual for the Hall. Rostering still aren’t getting things right.

When I was at bmi, the LBA-EDI and GLA used to fill well purely because they had agreements in place with major companies like RBS, so a lot of seats were filled at contract fares and the rest they could pretty much charge what they like.
Not sure personally that someone like Jet2 would have the same success with these routes relying on leisure traffic and the lower end of the business market.
Still, they don’t seem to be doing too badly overall so best of luck to them.

Yeah, apparantly one of the machines set aside for Iceland Express isnt needed, so we’re getting that, though it will probably be all different come May!
Will be interesting to see how a 733 to the likes of Tenerife for Jet2, and a 733 for the likes of Larnaca, Las Palmas does off of LBAs runway? Will they have to be fitted with uprated engines?
Amazing! What about extra fuel tanks?!
If the likes of bmibaby can’t make it on a 733 from EMA to TFS, how come Jet2 could on a 733 from LBA?
I’m really confused now!

Does anyone know how long these aircraft are being leased to BE for?
Did AEU lease them purely to lease on to BE, and what are the intentions for them after BE have finished with them I wonder???

Excellent pics!
That Cimber Air is a strange looking thing isn’t it. Not sure that livery does the CRJ and justice.
