Uganda Air Force had some in 1966, maybe you can research them. Idi Amin would not fit in the cockpit 😉 Isreali’s trained the pilots. cya

I served on 804 Squadron in 1954, Sea Hawks. And 700Y, 892/899 Sea Vixens later in my service, FAA. I have photos of these A/C on land and on A/C carriers, if you need them. I am aged 83 🙂

Airwork Services sold 5 to the Sultan of Omans Air Force in 1966, I think? Maybe they were ex 2 FTS ? XF907, XF688, XV501, XY476, WV???. If my memory serves me right ? Ex. Geriatric A/W Engineer.

Hi, PDO Oman ( oil company ) used to have an Avon 208 as a back up power supply, mounted in a shed there. Don’t know what happened to it ? May still be there ? 1967-71 I was with SOAF Oman. cya

Hi Terry. Check out my forum blog 02/05/10 on the Uganda Police Air Wing. We had 5XUUW and 5XUUX, Scout. I remember one went U/S in Northern Uganda and Bob Cowan, Joe ( Elect. ) ? and myself, engineers, towed it back to Entebbe by Land Rover. Very interesting as some of the route had no real roads. I believe one of the Scouts survives ? Jan Jankowski ( ex Polish Air Force, RAF ) was killed in one of them 🙁 I have a couple of photos from Uganda. I remember the Wasps from my FAA days. When I was with SOAF in Oman, I spent some time on HMS Tarter, they had a Wasp on board. Our Strikemasters beat up the Tarter 🙂 Regards from Cyclone Debbie 🙁
