Well the Saudi planes are becoming a kind of regular irregular at DUS. We had quite a few (including a 744 and other widebodies) in the last months. AFAIK they are used for VIP transport for people seeking medical treatment in Germany and sometimes they are used for extended shopping trips.

Here is the second part from the spotting trip.
The train station terrace however can become a bit boring. If you have westerly winds, the the landings will mostly happen on the second (farther away) runaway, while you will only get starts (rolling= on the closer runway. For the second runway you need at leas 350+mm and even those pics are nearly never clear.
On the terrace on the main terminal, however you can take excellent pics of planes taking off and also of those that have landed. Position yourself near the B4 finger and you have only 2 poles that you must avoid.
Is it just me, or does DUS get more and more heavies? I can remember the days when the DUS-forum would be counting down the days to a 747. Nowadays whenever I see photos from DUS a Kalitta 747 or An-124 is there.
Great shots! Love the An-124.
Yes, we are having more and more cargo traffic at DUS. Today you can count on 4-8 747Fs a week. The An124 has also become quite a regular visitor. We had a DC-8 lately, an AN-12 …
The Spiegel is tradionally leftwing anti millitary.
The low number of flight hours is true however. But is is also true that the number does exactly match the planned number set by the Luftwaffe for the new plane. At the moment the training of the ground personal has top priority and so the planes are not flying that much. On the ohter hand the Luftwaffe is no close to be able to fully operate the fighter without the help of contractors. (something the UK still has to do)
The winter flight limitation is also true. Simply because the verification of that point is planed for this winter.
The higher need for replacement part is true, because at the moment people on the job still lack experience in working with the new plane. If an error shows up all potential reasons are checked and all parts changed and returned to the manufacturer.
amazing pics
More 5th generation paper planes from Russia. Nice concepts, but they have one major drawback either they are not really 5th generation (MiG-35), as they lack the all aspect stealth of the F-22/F-35, or they have no funding behind them.
great pics !!
You had a lot of luck with the weather, nice pics.
Well it depends.
If it is a US strike with some cruise missiles, then it will surely fail to have an impact on the widely dispersed nuclear programm of Iran. In that case I see no direct millitary answer by Iran. They will go to the UN and start crying about the illegal attack and demand the withdrawl of all US troops from the region. They would also start a more open support of anti US groups in Iraq up to doing some limited and deniable SF raids there.
They will also have a large arming of volunteers to fight the US.
Apart from that they will be delighted as it removes the pressure from them and will solve all internal problems for the next years. The hardliners will be back in full control.
If it is an israeli strike. Then they will respond with BM launches against Israel and their nuclear reactor. Apart from that they will do the same as above.
A larger strike with real impact would probably see more offensive action. They would mine the Gulf. They would sent weapons and troops to fight the US in Iraq. But they would not go for an open fight, as they would lose that one.
In any case they would increase the support of anit US teror organisations and any support in the war against terror from theri side will be gone.
Oil prices would rise to an unkown level. Down Jones would fall …
We could expect an economic crisis in the west. Fear of terrorist attacks would be extremely high.
or partial RR engines like in the Tornado.
They look quite different for me. But perhaps I´m too used to the Tornado.
What on earth does it have in common with a Tornado MRCA apart from the role it was designed for??
