Not much damage. A-10s have returned to base with one engine completley gone.

Interesting article, which proves one point. Without knwoing the rules of engagement you know nothing about the worth of the results. To make the exercise usefull for both sides the odds were evend out a bit to make a challenging scenario.

Alitalia has no future if they need such protection. And it is illegal anyway.

DUS for example has a huge aviation shop. Full of modells (gemini, herpa, etc) books, sun glases, wooden props etc..

Quite cool and quite dangerous a it is directly in front of the access to the spotters terasse.

Spot the spotter – that could be a new trend

I would bet money on Japanese upgraded F-15 version. Perhaps with thrust-vecotrng and enhanced manouverability. Add some new avionics and you get a very excellent fighter.

Funny thing is that many people here believe that Boeing could update the old B747 design to compete with an A380, yet few people believe that Airbus could update the quite modern A330 to match the 7E7.
I have ssen too many Boeing proposals for a modern 747 to believe that they will actually happen before the programm is offically launched.

AIM-9Bs was it for the RF-4E also I have seen soe with Limas. So I think they could carry both versions, but given the fact that it was a pure self defense solution it is unlikely that any user would attach that weapon. We should not forget that the german RF-4E could also carry a-g weapons.

Using a jet for drug running, means a larger runway which in turn means that it can be easier detected by the authorities. So there are few jets used for drug traffic. If some one would try an F-5 would be sent.
The Tucano is excellent for chasing the low and slow flying Cessnas that try to avoid detection by flying low and slow. For such planes the Tucano is excellent. It also has enough firepower for all threads that it could encounter during those operations. it can loiter for a long time and it is cheap to operate and fully night capable.

The IAI will purchase the choppers, and the Israeli af will operate them and lease flight hours. Just like we did with the Grob-120, which is a completely German plane.

I know, there is nothing wrong with it. But i think if some one would come up with a better deal, then they would also win. The main focus is imho not on the type, but one the lease deal. Like it was with the Grobs.

The design it is quite good. The 2 runway solution is perfect for a STOBAR carrier as it eliminates most of the problems you normaly get during STOBAR ops. Muc better desgin then Gorskov
