    Well,

this thread is useless. Sure people in Iraq hate Saddam, but I think if you talk to enough taxi drivers you will find some hating the government in any country…..

Look at the facts, tough resistance, few surrenders, civlilians fighting the invaders, no uprisings,….. – support for Saddam can´t be that low.

And even if the Iraqis want Saddam removed, this is no justification for an invasion by forgein countries.

I think you are. Possibly FROGs.

But if the patriots intercepted one of these missiles it would be the first time a short range SSM has been intercepted under combat conditions.

According to the news Iraq fired SCUDs on Kuwait. Weapons he is not supposed to have. Weapons the inspectors did not find.
Weapons Iraq said he does not posses.

Seems to me like the inspections did not work.

Spain has some good reasons to follow the US.

    1. Spain has become economically strong. Yet France and Germany refuse to accept Spain as partner on the same level.

    2. After the conflict with Morocco Spain knwos what support they can expect from the EU in a time of crisis.
And with a potential troubl spot on my border, I would pick friends which I can depend on in a time of need.

It is as obvious that the popualtion is against the war. There is no european country in which the population is supporting the war. And the reasons are obvious. Iraq is far away, the feeling of a direct thread to europe is zero.

The natural position for any european country would be to remain strictly neutral in the conflict.
France has obvious political and economical interests in Iraq. The end of the current regime would mean the loss of monry the gave Iraq in the 80´s.
Germany, well, no economical interests. No political gain. Just internal politics, without the “No to the war” idea, there would be a different government in power now.
UK has political and economical interest in the region.
Spain, no political interests, no economical interests. But it has a possible trouble spot on its borders. And I think the last crisis showed them how reliable France and Germany are as partners, when it comes to make unpopualer decisions. So they are supporting those countries, which helped them in a time of crisis.

And who wants to decide if a war against Iraq is right or wrong ??
How many Iraqis were killed by the current regime since it came to power. How many people died in the wars it started ?
There are tons of biological and chemical wepaons unaccounted for. Yet Iraq claims to have none of them.
Just to give you an example SH has made Ali Hassan el Madschid the commander of the southern defense region in case of an US invasion. This man is also known as “Chemical Ali” for his use of chemical weapons against the kurdish minority.

So we see which people are still in power in Iraq. Hard to believe that they are really prepared to disarm Iraq.

On the other hand we have the possible high casulities in the civilian population.

Hard to decide what is worth – isn´t it ??

Well Titanic was quite a special movie.

To be honest I was cheering quite loudly when Leo was finally dead. (Which did not please the female audience)

“The Thin Red Line” nearly made me cry, but only because it was so boring. The main character was talking to himself nearly during the whole movie – man that was hard.
