It hard to get people to invest if you do not have a unique product. Another RJ will be hardly creating much interest, as would just another biz jet.

If there is a niche, then I think it could be turboprop airliner in a seat range from 80-130. This could fly if the gas price increases.

oh seahawk, sometimes you are such a stirrer.

So something like this isn’t simply a case of suggesting that the rafale is very good at confusing 30-40 year old SAM radars?

Thats the way i read it rather than proof that Rafale literally disappears from radar coverage….

The same radar systems, used by the enemy during Desert Storm, the same systems used to kill a F117 and the same who required B-2s to be escorted by F-16CGs and Prowlers.

Spectra points the Damocles pod into the right direction and target area, which then confirms the co-ordinates and sents them to the AASM. Spectra is correct to well below1° and it distances calculating capabilities are second to none.
DASS only noticed there is a radar – somewhere. SPECTRA knows where it is exactly.

    Mercurius,

Have you read latest fox 3 issue on Lybia ? It is officially stated that rafale “could literally disappear from Libyan radar screen” (sic) and that spectra could also “hide whereabouts of the rafale” (sic). It is also stated that the rafale could strike Libyan SAM sites at will and hanks to spectra the rafale gained a first day capability. Although Libyan SAM sites were not top notch it is still worth mentioning.

Yet it is something onyl achieved by the F-117 so far. It shows that Rafale is a true 5th generation aircraft and it points to a much smaller RCS, than other fighters. A very good confirmation that Rafale is indeed one generation ahead of the typical competition.

    ELINT : DASS
    IMINT: Reccelite

    DASs not comparable to Spectra
    Raccelite not founded :diablo:

So more Typhoon stories about what could probably happen in the future to bring the plane to a more modern standard. It is well known that Rafale is way superior.

It is no roadmap, it is a wish list from the Luftwaffe. It is highly unlikely that 3b will be funded or that the extensive upgrades will be funded.

I do not know why we must have a drawing of a possible up-date of the failed European fighter project in the thread about the awesome Rafale.

I wonder what there is left to discuss:

    Switzerland says: Rafale is better
    Korea said: Rafale is better
    India says: Rafale is better

    See a pattern?

Exactly. One could have gone for cheap and testes Russian helicopters or not so cheap but also testes US helicopters and ended up with expensive, unproven and badly designed deathtraps. Let the French do it and it will be an expensive but good product, add the Germans and others and it will be an expensive and very bad product.

Let Dassault re-bid, makes sure that the F-5s will be upgraded.

Rafale won because it is the better plane – get over it. And India was the start of a good year imho. UAE and Brazil will follow suit.

I predict that Typhoon will never get an export order, in which Rafale was in the competition.

Most voters are against any new fighter aircraft. But if Dassault manages to create a tendency against Gripen, even in those circles who support a new fighter, the likelihood of a cancellation increases. Which means sooner or later there will be an new evaluation process. At that time it is possible that Typhoon and Gripen are no longer in production.

why “stupid move”? right now, their pffer was refused in favor of the gripen, so, the best they can expect is to get the process cancelled and restarted, which is exactly what such offer can do (not sure, but there aren’t that many other options left to them)

Well, it is a good move if you want to force Rafale to the Swiss. Otherwise not so much. But I sure hope they are lucky and the NG buy is cancelled. The majority of the voters is against it anyway.
