Airshow performances are difficult, as they are mostly low speed. If you look at the Typhoon after his fast pass, it really is impressive then.

In the end the retirement of the A-10 would mean less F-35 are needed, although nobody would say that loud at the moment. However it seems obvious to me that the USAF needs to cut deeper. I would say F-15C/D, A-10, B-1, C-5 all need to go.

mayby the Luftwaffe should just push its requirement for A400m to one side and have some used C-27J’s what is the point of setting a requirement just to kick it out

I would be absolutely in favour of that move. It would save money.

Answer to what question? Lacking a budget for the existing planes? – hardly. If SAA wants transport, I hear the US is having some used C-27J available soon. And yes it lacks range any payload compared to the requirement, but the requirements fails to meet budget realities, so forget the requirement.

Yes,. that would be good move. There is no need for a US presence in Europe any more. If you disband all USAFE units, you found another load of jets to make the cuts.

Yeah, he’s that lovely fellow who rode a Unicorn whilst speading love and peace and handing out puppy dogs to little children throughout Syria.

(I don’t think its worth pursuing this debate any further for reasons that are obvious to all.)

Compared to the Al Nusra front, he is. And the stupid Americans want to support them. It am disappointed by the French, they should have sided with Russia.

K-8 seems to the most effective option. Pc-21 second.

Both seems the obvious choice. Add the F-15C/D, the B-2 and the C-5 to the list

Why should the West enforce the no-fly zone? Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, the Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Algeria, Jordan, Turkey combined should be well able to establish one. If the West does it, it will be blamed for everything. The west will be blamed for not bombing Assad troops, bombing civilians on both sides, not enough bombing, too much bombing, not sending ground forces, sending ground forces… The Arab nations have the means to establish a no-fly zone – let them.

This plane is a striker not designed for high AoA. The top air intakes would give it better stealth characteristics against ground radars and even against airborne threats in a high altitude profile.

Compared to the chinese everyone else appears to be bungling fools.

Then it is a bomber. A striker has need for decent manoeuvrability and AoA handling. And I think it looks like a 2-man-side-by-side cockpit. Going by the cockpit size it looks larger than a Fullback, logically caused by the need for an internal weapons bay. So size wise it should be somewhere between a larger Fullback and a smaller Tu-22M. The design looks more bomber like though. Size and design could be well suited to hit targets on the rebel island, when it is taken home to the mainland.

There is one other big factor besides training – numbers.

You could have the best trained, best equipped force in the world, but if you barely have enough planes to do peace time air policing and training, you will still be ineffective. That is why I believe 4th generation planes for an affordable price are still the best option for many countries.

Looks quite large, more like a medium bomber.

You open those doors on the ground on a weekly basis, they are closed during normal pre-flights.
