Good captures there Scotty , Heard they might be staying for a few days

They are up for Saturday anyway. An Akureyri due in at 02:20 !! The New York and Boston flights are due at 08:20 and 09:00. Hopefully the better weather will be with us tomorrow and hopefully the Virgin 747 won’t go on 33 and we can shoot 3 FIs together on the 30s. Morning FI departures to CPH, OSL and AMS depart at 10:40, 10:50 and 11:00

Akureyri in the north of Iceland is still OK so there are flights between there and Glasgow. That is the Iceland link. I reckon the hub at Glasgow is necessary because the runway it Akureyri is too short to support a 757 with enough fuel to do the at least 2500 mile trip to the nearest U.S. destination of Boston OR the apron is too small to have a few 757s in at once (I just had a look at the map and yes it is very small).. OR both !

Nice couple of shamrocks,im guessing 2007 for the DUB shot?,was the EI in PIK on training or diversion?

Gary. Correct, 2007 was the DUB one. I take it the red diggers gave that away ? The Shamrock was doing a spot of circuit bashing at PIK so it gave me the chance to shoot it with the 225 on one of its circuits.

Some very nice shots. It looks like a very nice little airport, and the backdrop is great. Plenty of options for different viewpoints. I like the Air Europa lined up at dusk.

Here’s a couple from me. Prestwick, Dublin and Orio al Serio (BGY) in that order.

Here are some 737 shots that I happen to have already digitized and on the computer. Plenty more pics in neg/slide that have not yet been scanned in though.

Egyptair classic in an older colour scheme from 1989. Just about to land on 33R at Athens.

A more up to date scheme and 737 variant at Munich in 2008, but still sporting one of the oldest of the ancient Egyptian deities, Horus, as the logo. Of course!

Here is a 737 variant I am particularly fond of. The 600 looks like a little inflatable plane. Have this Tunis Air one at Bergamo with my compliments.

Why send KLM to MAN??? surely there is an airport closer to AMS that could have taken it.Also on the Delta/KLM pic who’s is the 737 nose on left of shot???

Guess it was a transatlantic flight and with Brussels & Dusseldorf closed it seems that that area of Europe was in a bad way, so at the end of a long flight from the west Manchester must have been the best option bearing in mind fuel remaining. Get in where you can !

By the way, the first shot is the view I saw in the news footage about the Manchester runway closure. I remember the 2 AFs sitting like that with the KLM pig and Continental.

    Nice scene.

Would be good if there was a trout poking its head out of the river with a pair of bins. 😀

Good to see an old Beech Baron flying around. I’ve only flown into BOH once and that was in G-RANY the green Cessna 421.

Very nice widmeister, them spots look beauty’s!

Could i ask you how you got to them spots? walk? car?

I tried early this year getting a decent spot at Malpensa, but could only manage to get the heavy’s rotating …

Danny … the shots are all taken airside, inside the airport boundaries. Your two pics were taken over by terminal 2 then ?

There is a place on the eastern side of the airport where you can shoot 35R traffic in the mornings but you need a car to get there. A taxiway routing has changed recently to stop 35R traffic having to cross 35L on the way. I don’t know if it is possible to shoot stuff on that taxiway from the outside. I certainly saw some people standing outside but no idea how good pics would be there.

You can upload 1024 and even larger at photobucket.

Right under the big upload button it says “more options”, click this and you can set the size the images are (re)sized to. I guess you are ticked to the 15″ setting.

I didn’t tick any option. Maybe it was at this setting as default ? Well, I’ll look for that resize option next time. Thanks.

Nice bunch of shots, although it appears the colours fade on the right hand side of some of the photos?

Yeah, I saw that in some shots. Also noticed in some there were areas where the colour hadn’t taken properly – like noticeable fading on the tail where I know it should all be one colour. Could be that the camera is on the way out. Oh well, it’s not my main one anyway. Main one isn’t digi.
