Firebex, you can get a slide scanner for scanning slides and negs. I can’t suggest what type to go for or how much they cost these days but they do exist. When you have that it is also worth rescanning any prints you have scanned but scan the NEG instead. Prints can develop colour cast after a while plus you might see that the quality of printing was bad in the first place.
Love the Caravelle, especially the shape of the windows..
Toblerone windows! Only managed to fly in one caravelle but that’s much better than none! A Finnair one on domestic route.
AIR ANGLIA F27… Keith. If you can see the registrations of the vehicles on the original shot then you could possibly tie it to a year it was no EARLIER than.
Anyone have anymore of National Airways? Or of any EMB-110s flying around the UK in the 1980s
Thanks
Were National the chaps who used to fly Be90s and 200s on night freight runs out of Southend ?
Love those clouds !
Definitely a tripod or something solid needed for these types of shots. In wx like this as well as natural movement with hand help or nearly hand held you will be chittering in the cold.
If you are sitting the camera on a steady object when you don’t have a tripod it’s a good idea to use the time delay giving you a few seconds after you press the button and take your hands off.
Another thing I have often found myself doing if resting the camera on an area like a flat wall or balcony is ….. to make small adjustments and get the frame right put an appropriate number of coins wherever you need to to tilt the camera from how it naturally sits on the surface you are using.
Indeed, T5. I was thinking the same yesterday when I was standing in the Arctic wastes taking the shots.
Cheers.. Hey Scotty… Sun Country on the 30s and should be night stopping apparently. I’m at work but might have to go on the 747 around lunchy. Aye.
Very nice. The KLM eejit is nice indeed! And I like the wee fellow de-icing the GAMA with his little scoosher.
I see Photobucket still screws the picture quality up a wee bit when you upload. Not too bad though.
Nice shots with runway lights. On runway 06 ?
Nice old selection. These were the days … when you could actually SEE planes from a comfortable place without having to brave the elements. It was all a great laugh back then and you would always meet up with everyone down the airport.
Amazing! I worked for Air Ecosse from 1980 to 83 and then from 83 for Monarch. This is one of the few times I have seen a pic of an Air Ecosse ‘Bandit’
IF62M… where were you based with EC ? They used to be my transport from Glasgow to Luton back in these days when they were doing the Datapost flights. Many a wee trip “down south” started with a night flight to Luton (then as it was late on, a few in the Luton Flying Club social club where there was always something happening on a Friday night).
Happy Days.
Nice selection. Is that an AWACS 777 that Emirates have ?
Morning FI departures to CPH, OSL and AMS depart at 10:40, 10:50 and 11:00
Make these departure times 09:40, 09:50, 10:00 !! They are on BAA Glasgow departures page.
Excellent batch of shots !
