bit of a sad day for me today :apologetic:, due to house move im going to miss this years Legends first time since 1998 what’s more upsetting is i only work a stones throw from the airfield literally i can walk there from work in 5 minutes. Brilliant display by the shark mouth yesterday about 1830 was watching during lunch. seemed to be more activity after 5 than i remembered. Please keep all the posts and pictures coming as i can check regular today. so depressed i cant go. 😡

One of the Buchons is being rebuilt as a Bf109G-12, so you’re back down to 2.

So thats the desert painted one and the BofB film painted one, often seen at the ARCO at Duxford together ? …….. now a real 109 seems to be on the way over from the US and arn’t Mheir Motors producing a couple then there are the Connie Edwards lot just been sold to someone in Switzerland i think. I have seen a Youtube clip of one running its engine so the European contingent could be looking good in the next couple of years ?

There’s a possibility of European Hurricanes reaching double figures soon, but I think next year’s anniversary should centre firmly on The Few true veterans who are still with us. The opportunities to honour them are sadly going to get less as the years pass.

yes i do agree with that David there cant be more than a few left now, at one Duxford show i went to there was a drive along the taxi way of veterans and lowering of legion standards opposite the control tower cant remember which year, 19 Squadron hawks then flew past in a missing man formation at the end of 2 minutes silence. It would be nice to do something along those lines with a missing man formation starting 2 minutes silence then a squadron fly past of all Battle of Britain aircraft, 20 Spitfires, 10 plus Hurricanes 4 109/Bucons, 2 gladiators and a Blenheim.

A few years ago at Duxford possibly Legends 2011 i think i watched 3 Bucons fly together so i was just wondering how many air now airworthy and what could possibly gather at Duxford for their Annual battle of Britain air show next year, as its the 75th anniversary of our finest hour ! what could top or rival the 2010 show

    20 Spitfire tail chase
    7 Hurricans
    4 bucons and possibly a real ME109

I wonder in years to come if the operators and owners of Spitfires based at Duxford could be persuaded to do a fly past over the airfield on remembrance Sunday (i think there may be a service held there) BHHH manage to do this very well, would there be any merit in it ? Hopefully some operators watch here so who knows ?

    Lest we forget
