Don’t rely too heavily on the ‘common purpose’ propaganda that has since become embedded in the Home Front legend.

The Eastenders famously booed and heckled the royal family, the miners tried to hold the country to ransom with a series of strikes for better pay.

Make no mistake. If a new Hitler were camped on Cap Gris Nez today the Daily Mail would be full of pictures of heroic muslims with hijabs and burqa staring out over the straights of Dover with an SLR in hand.

    Moggy

Providing the right risk assessments had been done and full protective clothing was worn (ear mufflers because the gun is to loud ! eye protection in case i get grass in my eye !) and of course don’t forget the solicitors would have to giver their permission too

The Bentwaters Cold War Museum’s Jaguar GR.1 XX741 was rolled-out today after restoration and will be put on display outside the museum by next weekend (the museum is open on the Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday)
It looks immaculate, a credit to the restoration team.

My Dad used to be a civilian worker there until the base closed and made things in the control tower he worked for a company called PSA ? he still has his security passes may bring him along on Monday. what time are you opening ?

well thanks for the update Eddie like i said it was the best a google search would let me do, and was slightly incorrect, it would be good if there was a definitive updated list that someone could post every 6 months or so giving status of individual aircraft. As for an airs how well school boy dreams for me unless i win the loto ? although i could be persuaded to help if a certain venue came and asked. ??????

In the case of this particular aeroplane, because that is how the Americans interpreted an RAF camouflage scheme. At least it is marginally better than the previous scheme the poor thing suffered the indignity of wearing for a number of years. 🙁

Ok cheers for that sorry to say i actually like it

not a proper Duxford comment but its August 13th today, i think its the start of the Battle of Britain in 1940 Adler Tag the destruction of the RAF thank you to the bravery of the few they did not succeed.
