And people wonder why no one posts on here anymore.

    That’s it I’m done.

    Bwb

    Out.

Im sorry that was my attempt at being humerus guess it fell on deaf eyes, to be fair i have done my fair share of events in the past over 2 and 3 day events (Expo’s, Fleet reviews, Olympics, Navy days, Triathlons, International sports events) 5am and 6am starts are common and my hats go off to all who help at such events and make the day happy and usually hassle free for all who go to watch

Remember… huge, slow moving queue to get into the entrance hall and pay. :highly_amused:

    It’s when I really enjoy being a F.O.D.

    Moggy

Friday before Legends i got there at 0930 was instructed to park on the grass in main car park, joined in the que and finally got in at 1045 think the que for the powder room was just as long and as for a hot beverage !!!!!!!!!!!! M11 photo area full, school group running around (teachers more interesting than children at airside happenings) all in all a fantastic day …………….. the only 2 down sides are its hot with no shade !!!!! and operators who turn up after the venue closes, if only Duxford would stay open until sunset over Legends weekend well the Friday anyway. That was last year
As for this year im jumping the que ? and then picking up my wife at Whittlesford :love-struck: Friday night off to Hampton Court Saturday :apologetic: the Legends Sunday 😀 and this will be her first ever air show

If i remember rightly and i may be wrong but at Legends 2012 didn’t 3 Mk Ia Spitfire fly starting the show ? so with these two does that mean their are 5 now in flying condition as well as the Mk IIa with the BBMF ?

Just a thought – It would be sensible to split posts such as this:

Between officially confirmed and other sourced information on attendees. It will help keep clear what is a definite confirmation and what is not necessarily confirmed . An operators website is not the same as the horses mouth! Nothing wrong with lists just the way they are compiled 🙂

Excellent official list as you say.

To answer, The market is on the area used as a live pan on airshow days, my last recollection was the organisers would have to pay Epping council 21k in lost earnings on the Saturday as Market and airshow would be a no no due to parking and safety issues, the hangars are the other side of the airfield so no nosing in althought they used to do London bus tours to the liveside before the show started.

Ok thanks TA kind of answers my question …….. I guess what i was on about was on a normal Saturday (no airshows) can one see aviation activities as seen on here if the wife was dropped at the market and i wandered of (not live side) peir inside the hangers if open ?

fantastic thread this what a good idea … only went to the fighter meet once 96 i think sponsored by the daily mail if i remember have the programme somewhere didn’t the Mossie win a trophy at the show (best restoration/display) or something like that if my memory is right ?? One question though how far away would the market be as the lady could shop and have retail therapy whilst i drooled over historic aircraft, can you walk around and see inside open doors of hangers or is it all pretty well ristricted to standing at the side of the runway please.

Pretty nice, that list – other than the Geneseo Skytrain heading up the Dak quintet, and the Patrouille (and even the latter have been at DX several times before), it’s the usual Duxford list, but you can’t fault them for booking around the theme. Several D-Day veterans in the programme, plenty of others with D-Day connections… Just a shame the Thunderbolt’s gone and the Lightning is (almost certainly) too costly for an IWM Duxford show. There’s quite a big 8th/9th AF hole there, particularly given the role those two played during Overlord.

    Still, should be good.

2x P51’s, B17, DC3’s so far maybe another P51 or two and a B25 what else is there around that could be displayed to represent the 8th ?
