just a quick thought to everyone discussing what the lottery money was/is/should be used for at duxford do you all remember what happened a few months ago perhaps a dedicated thread is a better place and leave this for the comings and goings of Duxford
just picked this up best wishes and a speedy recovery Moggy
So they have. But not along the runway as far as I am aware. 🙂
So i made a monumental oh my goodness mistake what am i going to do :stupid: (stick head between legs) should it be omitted then not runway taxi way :p
No, but the theme of the airshow celebrates the Anniversary of D-Day, thus as many Daks/C47s as possible!!:eagerness:
Have to agree with that Charlie i wonder how many vets will be there and be driven up and down the runway and Taxi ways in WW2 era Jeeps. I went to one show a while back i cant remember the anniversary but the British Legion paraded regiment flags and there was a minute silence following a missing man fly past if my memory serves me right There was almost complete silence across the entire airfeild very moving
5 DC3’s with one flying over across the pond to, i wonder if we could get a special formation fly past for this !?! still think with 2 months to go that list will get more added
Fantastic pictures 5 –14 in black and white could easily be 1940 vintage ? one question i guess its genuine markings but no under the wings markings is that correct
Seen on an facebook page connected with the 8th Air force so i don’t know if this is true, rumour or speculation and im not sure anyone will be able to confirm or deny this but there appears to be a post about an air show at Duxford for the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and tours being finalized from their anyone ??
Yes, it is a Mk I, and yes, that will make four airworthy examples when it flies (five if you include the BBMF’s Mk II, to all intents and purposes the same as a MK I, just built at Castle Bromwich)
So are they all based in the UK and possibly able to fly together ? i have tried looking on the Spitfire database but as i cant read properly find it difficult to understand .
this may be a bit of a silly question and i opening my self to criticism and harsh comments im sure but is N3200 a Mk 1 Spitrire ? if so does this mean there are now 4 airworthy as i think there were 3 at Legends in 2012 ?
bye bye wish you weren’t going :apologetic:
I have managed to decipher the worn engraving on the medal edges which is
1 87036 P te D OAKMAN MIDD XR
2 87036 P te D OAKMAN MIDD XR
3 216102.3 A.M. S.E GILKS RAF
if anyone can help identify these people from WW1 please

hi Geoff sorry to here your house bound , was similar afflicted last year as i snapped my Achilles tendon end of July unbelievably im still of sick with it. Regarding your post sorry to say that that would never happen at Legends as this show is well and truly only a piston engined show … the only time to my knowlage that their has been a jet was 2008 ? i think and an USAF heritage flight
regards
