Cheers Stormbird.Bit late for my taste but nice none the less.Gotta remember Auss was the largest user of the spit during WW2 outside of England. And one of the largest graveyards was about 30 kays out of town here.Just found a photo of the pilot who crashed ours in 1943(we are doing a repro adopting it,s number).Very eerie, almost like looking at a ghost as he was killed in A58-36 up near Batchelor when he was 21.Remember watching Col Pay when before it went to Temora when I was knee high and was captivated.Something that I have carried with me ever since, hence the insanity with Spits…Yep Jbs sent a couple of ours over to the mysterious bookman as well. Will sell like hotcakes I think..
Yeah she was a fair swim over from here to see her fly in NZ.Always looks spectacular against the New Zealand countryside. Here in Ozz everything is in shades of brown at the moment.
It,s the one which lists every known spitfire,or parts of in the world.
Dang the Me410 can ground run.Sweet!!!!!Wonder how many other rare aircraft that are around can ground run.I know the ex Doug Champlins Fw190D13 as being able to fly but it,s rarity will ensure it won,t.Will have to wait till the Flug Werks dora models start rolling off the production line.
Spit Projects in Auss
As far as spitfire projects here in Australia the number falls between 1 and 50.You guys will have to wait until a certain book comes out.
Got one pulled apart in one of our Hangars at the moment, well the cowlings are off anyway. Can get pics of it next Sunday if you can wait.
Think it,s a case of going through piles of photo,s,manuals, drawings etc trying to figure out what they are.Now whats under “A” for Avro……….
Thought some were converted for transport use in Norway due to the shortages in Ju52,s and in the Stalingrad pocket.
That would be the one..cheers and good to see it go inside. It,s a wonder what a bit of passion, motivation and hard work can acheive.
The word your looking for Daz is EXOTIC or EROTIC.
Anyone got any info or pics of the Lanc nose section built from scratch over in the Uk??Is it still around?
Wow that is some great tin work mate.Tell the guy who made them he is doing a great job,buy him a good bottle of scotch and give him a warm cushion to rest his feet on.Sheety stuff is easy. It,s hard to do it well though and not many people can accomplish it easily.Thats when it starts becoming an art form.Cheers HP75.
Great pics Mark.Almost like an archeological dig these days.Wonder if in a hundred years time people will be doing this with the F18,s that have crashed over the years.
Groan..That is just sad.LoL.There is nothing unimportant about the safety of our aircraft.A kid putting a stick up an airworthy pitot tube would be enough to make anyone have a bad day.I think thats why cockpit projects are a good idea.Lets the public get an idea what the office looks like without them wanting to get up and crawl all over the unattended display aircraft.
ROFLAO.Yep,can see it now……”here tourist,tourist,tourist…..ZZZZAAAAPPPP”!!
