Do you mean the hole diameter which accepts the back plate spigot , just inside the PCD of the 16 bolt holes ?

Er….yea. looking at this from a laymans point of view (best qualification I have is a PPL….fixed undercarriage), did Mr Supermarine ever come up with an undercarriage release system which was not an ‘accident waiting to happen’ ? How many pilots / aircraft were lost during the war due to the release mechanism locking up. ?

Beneath all the bracken , the motor mounting plate looks like it might have 16 bolt holes for mounting of the Motor back plate to it…This if I remember corresponds , quite naturally , to either the Clerget or Bentley.Though I stand ready to be corrected .
