From what I,ve heard it,s some confounded apparatus that cold draws the pipe through a die.Have you tried looking at Engineering companies that do such work as they might have a machine that does similar work.
Nice work and the stories are great.Keep them coming.
we should be able to convince those, just about to embark on the recreation/restoration of a Spitfire/Seafire, that it is a pretty dumb place to invest upwards of £1m
…..and your telling me this now!!!!!!!And here I was thinking I was doing it for fun.
Honestly Restoration = providence + ID + 20% airframe
Reproduction= No providence + assumed ID + all new airframe built in same way as factory using same or similar materials, using some original parts.
Replica = Looks like it from a distance but has no similarity in build construction or parts.
Nice job..
May seem like a daft question but why 1/3 scale ?. If you are going to go to all that trouble to build a replica why not build it full size?.
Umm the cost of a Merlin rebuild..

Now was that 5 or 6 pumps with the Kigass???:dev2:

Dimensions are as follows..Height of F11 which is the frame behind the pilot seat is 55.74″ and width 32.24″,Frame 8 (instrument panel half frame is 31″ high and 34″wide.Instrument Panel is 19.4″ high and 32.69″ wide.Length from F7 to F11 is 55.61″ plus the widths of the double frames. The basic Spit structure didn,t change much in the highback form, just made stronger in places with the up powered Merlins and Griffons.
