    Morning all

Thanks Rafohunter for the information you provided about this aircraft. I also found the web-site to be well worth a look.

As for Embraer, the reply I received this week, to the question do you still operate the Hunter was no. Let’s hope someone in Brazil can come up with some up to date information as to the current state of this aircraft.

    Evening all

2008 will see the 40th anniversary of an unusual event which took place on April 5th 1968. This is the day Al Pollock flew a Hawker Hunter under Tower Bridge, in protest against the lack of official celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the RAF.

    43 Squadron Hunters

A very good evening to all.

I would like to share this photo with all the guys who have a keen interest in 43 Squadron. The aircraft is Hunter F-6A, XF515 and is based with Hunter Flying Ltd at Exeter airport. This aircraft served with 43 Squadron in the late 1950s and is maintained in airworthy condition.

    Afternoon

If anyone is interested, you can still find one of these aircraft, lurking in the back of a hangar at Exeter airport. I’m not sure of its identity, as its completely sliver.

As part of the Hunter ground crew, I would like to put across one or two points

I can understand people’s frustration at paying to see aircraft which were advertised to attend an air show, only to find some of these aircraft did not appear. This is usually because the aircraft has become unservicable, or the weather conditions have prevented the aircraft from flying to the event.

Unfortunately the Elvington show was disrupted by the weather conditions and this in turn affected the number of aircraft attending this event. I admit the flying display was small, but the chance to see two Hunters displaying and performing an airfield attack, is unique to the Elvington show. The public were also treated to a breathtaking display by the Hunter FGA-9 XE601
The pilot, Andy Foan, put together a display which showed the aircraft at its best and no one who was there could not have been impressed with the low fast passes across the airfield and the distinctive sound of the “blue note” echoing across the crowd.

I know that some of the Hunter ground crew drove all the way from Exeter, which was a 800 miles round trip and sixteen hrs altogether behind the wheel. I drove 400 miles in total and spent eight hrs in total behind the wheel, all because we want to show the public these fine aircraft and that goes for ALL the other participants.

In the end the air show organisers, the aircraft owners and the support guys can only do their best and sometimes these things happen.

The weather was far from perfect, but Dave Southwood’s display in the Hunter was the highlight of Waddingtons flying display.
    Well done to everyone.

Those were really nice photos of this classic aircraft. I expect the aircraft owner was pleased with them?

    Hunter Blue Note

    Hi

Anyone who attended the 50th Anniversary of the Hawker Hunter at Kemble in2001, would have been able to experience the sight and sound of a Hunter making the distinctive “Blue Note” sound. The display was by Hunter F-6A
XF516 and the pilot on that occasion was former Lightning display pilot, John Aldington.

    Hi

Many thanks to you all. I’ve now got my hands on a copy of the book and this should bring back some memories. I’ve also found a BBC web-site that has some information about this excellent series, plus you can add your comments about the series, if you so wish. The site is BBC North West Wales Holyhead-Combate Pilot prod

    Cheers

    Hi

Thanks to everyone who went to the trouble of answering my question.
I would like a copy of the book in question. Where is this book shop and have you a contact phone number?

Thanks to all the replies. I should have realised it was the RNHF aircraft, before I asked the question.

The Peter March pic of XF321 shows us all what a fine looking aircraft she was. Another interesting part of her history is that she won the ‘Concours d’Elegance’ compertition at the Hunter 25th anniversary meet, which took place at RAF Greenham Common in 1976. Neville Duke and Bill Bedford were the judges.
