There doesn’t seem to be a lack of Merlins, and if in doubt fit Allison V-1710’s.
Of course it has to do with desirability. The Spit and Mustang are the most popular but other types have made a comeback too. Look at the various Hawker Typhoon projects.
It’s the most obscure ones that need more attention. Multi-engine aircraft cost more and are perhaps less desirable. Especially British ones are under-represented but who knows what happens in the future.
Who could have predicted in the eightes what the current situation would be now.

We need to have more Halifax and Stirling threads here, oh and the Whitley, oh and the Hampden, oh and the Battle etc etc.
I did see this forward fuselage during one of the open depot days at Soesterberg 10/15 years ago, could it be that the cowlings were orange?

Nice pics of R9371’s cockpit remains. Didn’t know there was a windscreen frame in store at Stafford, but then again it’s a bit like Alladin’s cave. Pity that nothing is being done to the Halifax cockpit remains although the UK will be gaining one soon……
Fantastic, no mention though of the Dutch cockpit reconstruction.
Thanks, got that one too.

The first Spitfire I ever saw in the “flesh” at the Aviodome.
Thanks Tony, that’s exactly what I was after.

There’s still a wishlist somewhere mentioning Stirling, Whitley, Dornier 17/215/217, Heinkel 177 etc.that may be lurking beneath Norwegian waters. The Norwegians are doing fantastic work. And a beautiful country too.
I have been to Gardemoen twice and to Bodo and the collections there are staggering.

Hawkinge got a Bolingbroke cockpit from Canada a few weeks ago.

From a dig I once found an A1134 amplifier with strands of bungee cord attached to the brackets on the side. Was the mounting flexible?

Fair enough Paul,
Of course when someone pays the bills he can have it anyway he likes.
But as a memorial it would not be fitting.Just a matter of opinion.

Anything but that! Better put it on display as found then.

And you are in even more luck as I have found that Stirling brake pressure valve mounting, will send some pics to you soon.
