    Tony,

Your website doesn’t show. I have tried several times, can you give me a price by pm?

You would do better writing / visiting The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum in London. They are very helpful, especially if you offer a donation.

They are indeed very helpful, and they have lots and lots of photoalbums of aircrew when I was there in 2001 researching Bogoslav Morski’s crew. Unfortunatly they had no captions to go with them so indentifying aircrew was impossible.

Nobody spotted the complete set of Griffon Spitfire engine cowlings by a eastern european vendor? Camouflage was still on them. Top, two side and bottom cowling.

    Tony,

Thanks, any pics of your work?

The gauges are similar to the Spit and Hurricane ones, but the scale is to 70 and 100 gallons.

Did LK488 serve with the Chines AF:eek:

    :):D

A fully restored tail section put on display at Hendon would at least
give people a chance to see the size of only part of the aircaft. A large sized photograph (as did used to have on the wall) would give an idea of the whole of the airframe.

Would be nice to source such a project out to MAPS for instance after they finished the Defiant.

    Nudge nudge wink wink

I didn’t read it as such, but then again I’m Dutch:)

We should support as many projects as possible.

    Come on chaps,

Step back in reality, this is how this works for the CAA. Accept it or seek
a new pastime to enjoy. You don’t have to like it, but it doesn’t
help repeating this over and over again. Remember, it’s the Spitfire forum, or was it the Lancaster forum,…….;)

Keep them coming, in droves please.

    Bob,

For Handley Page types try the department of books of the IWM at Duxford.

Would be great to see some of these recreated.

    Elliott,

That’s great news, time for an update then?

The costs is prohibitive but other factors did also influence my decision.
Work on the Halifax will take a long time to get the details right. I wil keep myself busy on that one.

IIRC Wellington and Stirlings used a similar ladder to enter the nose section.

    Tim,

The drawings are available, I have an index of all surviving drawings. I sent an initial list of 127 and almost got a heart attack when I got a message what it would cost me, times three as a total of 380 drawings would be needed for a similar result of the Halifax.

When Harry Fraser Mitchell was still active he would pick up the boxes from Duxford and go the the local copyshop. His prices were very realistic. Also I was told the IWM board recently decided not to hand out any drawings to just anyone.

Don’t know if it has anything to do with liability issues, but I can understand their point of view.
