Amazing planes…glad to have been able to see one fly when I was over there a few years ago…
I did hear that the Biz’s guns were set up to track faster aircraft that they expected to encounter in combat and so were not set up to deal with slower planes like the Swordfish…something about the lead needed being too much and they could’nt set it up any slower than it already was…I don’t know…talk to the Navy guys for the technical mumbo jumbo…but no Swordfish was shot down by the Bismarck’s guns so something was definitely off, they SHOULD have been meat on the table…but thank goodness they were’nt and they did their job well.

Got to fly in that B-17 ‘Shady Lady’ of the Evergreen collection back in ’97, the one used in the Bond film….don’t know if she still flies today or not but she is in the museum at McMinnville…

Always fun to be in on the ground floor of what COULD become a big thing…like joining the CAF in year one before they became a national organization here in the States…enjoy it while it lasts and may the collection grow quickly (you need a Corsair….)

Sometimes…being a Yank…I’m glad I don’t know what’s going on…

Was at the Fort Collins airport last summer when the Collings bombers came through for their stop…as the B-24 was getting set to take off to take some riders up, what should appear in the distant sky but a PB4Y of Hawkins and Powers, headed north from Denver to it’s base in Wyoming….what are the odds?

Will be seeing the udvar hazy facility on my swing back east to the Corsair Gathering in Connecticut…t minus 1 week and counting…i leave on the 2nd and return the 12th…looking forward to it immensely….

Yeah, back when George Baker owned it as ‘Gee Bee Sky Fury’ it wore race #71….and now it’s back wearing it again…interesting…
M
So the Messerschmitt Foundation in Germany WILL fly it then, not just stuff it away some where to gather dust?

Indeed, just saw it…the first 20 minutes is great too, lots of action there and some funny stuff…overall thought the story was great, lots of great effects (does it bother anyone that the background CGI ffects are now just becoming de riguer anymore for movies like this?) good acting overall and lots of action…and Yoda ‘going off’ with his lightsabre again…

Enough to make one weep…and the prices on some of those parts…oh, just to have ONE complete Corsair propeller assembly.

Oh, god, I hate my bank for that stuff…or a charge shows up a week later that sets me back where I have thought I had a positive balance for a week-it’s the computer age, folks, why does a transaction still take a week?!! I love when I have a .58 cent charge on my debit card and if it is a transaction that takes me into the red, they charge me $30 in overdraft charges and then if I don’t have the money in the account they charge me $7 every day that I don’t put it in there!
My bank, by the way, is US Bank, just so you guys know…
