“WHY is is that in a lot of your posts you seem to think you know more about flying warbirds than the people who actually do?”

Interesting question, PT19….and how many of my posts have you read? I see you’ve been an OVERWHELMING contributor to these forums with a whole 3 so far, at least ONE of them doing nothing more than stirring the sh!t….

I merely pointed out it seems that in aircraft that have retractable landing gear, a lot of folks seem to forget to then extend those same gear to land again…but hey, we all make mistakes, don’t we? If someone wants to keep landing a warbird with the gear not extended over and over again, who am I to argue with them….I know nothing about warbirds….aside from the 16 seasons I’ve spent working with them and the folks who fly them, I’m a feckin’ rookie…

Personally I would’ve LOVED to see the Breitling fighters, but I only saw them arrive and do the run and break at the end of the show in 2001…never saw their full routine…

I would think the P-36 and the re-emergence of ‘Princess Elizabeth’ from rebuild would be highlights this year, but there will be other stuff to look forward to, I imagine…and possibly some stuff coming in from the States especially for thye show…

I would LOVE to see one of the 190’s at the show if I were going, likewise a Connie…

Looks EXACTLY like the background of the hangar, does’nt it? Probably modern computer graphic camo, like they’re doing for the soldiers nowadays…

Saw the Swoprdfish at DX in 2000 performing with the ‘Diamond Nine’ gang in their Tiger Moths…the Swordfish appeared to be almost 3 times the size of the Moths….amazingly big plane….glad to have seen one fly and hope to again…

Got the same impression from the SBD Dauntless first time I saw it…thought to myself “This thing is a third again as big as a T-6!”, did’nt expect it to be that way….

Ain’t this the one that used to appear at Breckenridge, owned by Don Talley at that time?

This is mine, from a photo mission with the CAF P-40 at Breckenridge one year…the T-6 in the foreground shot a bunch of video of it, then cleared out and I shot 3 rolls of film, but I like this shot and it’s colors…

Anyone got a shot they could post of the old ‘General Belgrano’, if I recall, the former ‘USS Phoenix’ if memory serves?

Good God, I’d do it in a minute!! Those travelling expenses cover flights to and from my place here in Colorado? If so, I’m on board…

Good grief, people, I’d be grabbing this up so quick if it happened out here….

    Aerovin-

Just something I seem to recall having read once in the aviation mags a long time again…not sure how accurate it was or how shot my memory is, but it’s all moot anyway…the F is no longer flying and we’re the poorer for it, unfortunately.

Found the Humbrol at my hobby store (much to my surprise!) but instead got the Testor’s European Earth Green (or something like that) and the Hurricane is now painted, and may I say looking good….trumped up some decals from a P-40 kit to put on it (K-HR) since the kit did’nt come with any kind of useable letters, and I think she looks good….just details to take care of now, putting on the glass and landing lights, touching up bits of paint…then ‘dirtying it up’, oil smears and mud and wear and chipped paint, my favorite part of the process….THEN maybe take some photos and see what you lot think…

I remember watching ‘Dave Allen at large’ over here on the PBS station, my step mother would roll her eyes every time I did because she was devout Catholic and he LOVED knocking religion…he did great skits and told hilarious jokes, and he ranked right up there with the Pythoners for me…always wondered where he went and why we never heard about him much anymore…

    Tailwinds, Dave…ya did good work…
