A red Turbi flew over my house on Tuesday heading for the Adelaide Control Zone which is less that one nautical mile away. Turbi and Transponder, really? There used to be one at Adelaide Biplanes based at Aldinga Airfield south of the city but they got rid of it a while ago now.

Hi Roland,
Welcome to the forum.
The w670 on the front of my Stearman works really well, but I always find that for spares or general info I have to look to the USA. Air Repair are good, Dusters and Sprayers also, Rare Aircraft and the Stearman Restorers Association are all good contacts as well.
Most of the manuals can be found on the net as well if you look hard enough.
All the best,
Steve
Very impressed with the progress now that construction has started. Well done everyone.
Steve
Thanks for the spinner explanation Roobarb, and as for the decals I’m surprised you don’t print your own!
Steve
Looking at the photo, I was wondering why the spinners were all different shapes?
Steve
Congratulations everyone! This is extremely good news, even from 10,000 miles away. Pictures please.

Viscount,
If you search the American reg on Google you soon find images of the plane in 2005 and CFB Trenton is not on the plane then, so it is a very recent addition!
Steve
Thanks John,
The original US rego was N61210, which was issued in 1946. I think it left the States for Australia in 2007.
Steve
J Boyle,
Thanks, I’ll go and peel it off immediately!

Hi Viscount,
Thanks for the info and questions some of which I can answer.
Aircraft reg VH-EYC
BuNo 05314. Serial No 75-6488 (it’s sounding as if the no on the tail should be the BuNo)
VN2S ? I don’t know but will enquire?
CFB Trenton is odd and I did wonder if there was a connection via a previous owner.
Thanks for your positive comments, I bought it because I liked it, any interesting history is a bonus!
Cheers
Steve
Added new link in case photo was not showing.

Waldo Pepper for me. I still can’t work out how some of the sequences were filmed.
They pretty much did all of it for real I think. They did use stunt doubles, but Redford and Svenson really were climbing in and out of the Standard J1 at altitude and without parachutes!
Those were the days.

‘There is nothing a German Officer can not do’
Always loved that, ever since I was five. I am now nearly fifty five!!!!
Which ever one John Crewdson had access to at the time, possibly Connie Edwards’ as I think you can see the target towing bits underneath.

Which war had you in mind?
