I finally got to see this film yesterday and thought it was an absolutely dreadful movie. In fact I can’t think of one nice thing to say about any aspect of it so I should probably stop now. It did raise the public profile of Lysanders I suppose, there one good thing. All I can draw from this experience is that modern filmmakers have lost the ability to make war movies, this does not bode well for Dunkirk.

Yes a big thanks from downunder, and here’s to more next year!
Steve.
Thanks Martin, that does make sense.

That is an impressive replica, although the main wheels look too small to me. I wonder why they did not use the one at Shuttleworth?
Steve
A mate that worked at BAE at the time told a story that BAE had offered to make two airworthy Horsa replicas for ten thousand pounds! The film company said that was too expensive.

Never seen it in the flesh and those props have always bugged me. Thought of it more as a facsimile really, but have to say it looks magnificent in that moody outdoor shot above. Might have to reappraise. And the next time I’m in the UK I might pop in for a gander.
Steve
What an interesting collection! Thanks for posting.

Great shots Brian, thanks for posting.
Steve.
I was lucky enough to meet Brian Hoskins several times while he led the Reds through their transition from Gnats to Hawks .
I wasn’t aware of that phrase , how did it come about ?
I believe it was from Roger Bacon’s? page in Flight International. There was always and old photo and a speech bubble with Hoskins doing something or failing to do it!

A Polarizing filter would have helped there Peter, and you wife could have relaxed!
Steve
No, we have had a discussion on the mod forum, and it wont be coming back, unless, and until shiny metal starts coming out of a hole.
Sorry.

Point missed again, and ranks closed apparently.
Steve
Nice one Peter.
Steve
That was a very disappointing and irrelevant response Bruce. And you know it.
Steve
General Discussion being for “NON AVIATION TOPICS” According to its sub heading.
Steve
So this thread is now buried in General Discussion. Hm…..interesting tactic.
