I assume this isn’t a fake, I must say it doesn’t look like it.
Although having a video running was convenient.

The incidence of insurance fraud is very high in Russia, so many drivers have cameras installed on their dashboard to protect themselves.

True there is no certainty about the transmission of TB, Badger > Cow. But the proposed limited cull will go some way to providing data, eventually we may be able to know, one way or the other.

    Moggy

As I mentioned before, yesterday in Radio 4 it was revealed that in areas where extensive ‘shoot to cull’ testing took place the actual reduction of TB transmission was only around 15%. It seems to me that the govt is making decisions based on what would be popular with farmers rather than what objective evidence says is effective.

Something I think will be a likely outcome – even more of the former RAF harriers will be pulled out of the Boneyard and formed into new Squadrons for the USMC

My main concern about this who issue is that the scientific evidence is once again being ignored.

In a radio interview yesterday, the head of the committee that researched the effectiveness of badger culling for the government came out and said that even after years of shooting badgers to bring their population down considerably, tests in small areas showed only a ~15% reduction in TB infections of cattle.

Like drugs, decisions are made on political grounds, not evidence – sometimes even directly contrary to the evidence!

In other words, you’re held to a higher standard. So, some actions, while not illegal, can have repercussions on one’s career.
You’re expected to be reasonably sober, pay your debts, keep your pants on in public

Except this was in private. He might be a government employee, but he is entitled to a private life.

The cockpit itself wouldn’t necessarily need the wiring, so long as the avionics within it were individually shielded. Living things (perhaps apart from Pigeons and other creatures that use Earth’s magnetic field to navigate) are unaffected by EMPs.

I think one of the articles I linked mentioned that the cage can be put through microwave oven doors, so it is possible to have it in a structure akin to this, though whether they just shield the avionics as I mentioned before might be the answer.

Another article has a few pictures of various aircraft and ships and discusses ways of generating and combating EMPs.

I think the most obvious question is that since the best way to generate one is by detonating a nuclear weapon, why would you want to rig it up just to make a high altitude EMP if you wanted to hurt an enemy? Why not just drop it on the target you want to hurt?

sounds daft but during the 1980-90`s the BBMF photo recon late mark Spits still had a war role if an EMP attack kicked off

As someone who wouldn’t mind seeing a modern day resurrection of the Spit for COIN duties (knowing also it’s entirely unrealistic) :D, this actually sounds really interesting.

I wonder how many other warbirds had secret roles we never knew about.

    C.D.

Warren, Interesting to read, however, do we know how they are”Hardened”?.
Or would that be top secret?.
    Jim.
    Lincoln .7

Shielding things from EMP basically means putting them inside a faraday cage, which looks like a wire mesh cage. I’m not an expert but I can’t see why this can’t be incorporated into buildings is as HAS, command and control centers etc.

It can also be built into individual electronic items, such as mobile phones, seen here.

though I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a Conservative-UKIP coalition.

I would, given that they don’t have any MPs, and never have.

All they succeed in doing is splitting the conservative/anti EU vote between Conservatives and themselves, hindering the ambitions of both. They are very vocal, making them seem like a big force, but don’t forget that UKIP is still very much a minority party – even the Green Party have won more seats than UKIP.
