A friend sent me a link to this report, which made some interesting reading, and seemed like a fairly well balanced assessment:

Their KC-135s have lasted 50+ years (as an aside, I wonder howe many Airbusses will last that long? 🙂 )
How many hours do the KC-135s have on them, on average? I wouldn’t have thought that their hours each year would be anything near that of a civil airliner, so I don’t really think it’s a fair comparison. Not to say the 135 isn’t a looker 😀
This seems relevant – Eurofighter is offering full member status to RoK:

What exactly are the KFX-3 requirements?

Watched this before, I get sweaty palms and a horrible sinking feeling just watching it!:o

So, it’s 1st July today, who won?
The go it alone approach doesn’t always bear fruit though.
The Nimrod, Viggen etc, all good aircraft, but they were built to suit their home nation so specifically they never secured exports.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly pushes up costs.
So, assuming that they did decide to dump the F-35, what other options are even available?
New legacy aircraft, more F-22s?
I have to agree.
My visit to Poland, which included Aushwitz and several other similar sites, it profoundly influenced my views on any issues like this; I firmly believe that if we see genocides and the like occurring today we should take every step we can to prevent it.

I heard a news report that Aeroflot has received a 50% reduction in price on their 777 order, any more info on this? Sounds odd to me…
