Not about this issue in particular, but I found this quite interesting:

Maybe… but I find the mentioning of Turkey suspicious that it would be ex-turkish F-16s.

Because, as of now, Turkey is committed to buying F-35s and there is no chance in hell either of the three smaller states could afford them(buying together or alone), even if given free. So I see no other reason to mention Turkey as part of the deal unless they are the ones supplying the jets.

I understood that Turkey was now being non-committal with regard to F-35 due to tech transfer? Eurofighter is pushing them on the issue, offering complete transfer.

ehmmm, Czech Kingdom, Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic were, are and will be in CENTRAL Europe…

Exactly correct, it’s just a throwback to cold war terminology – everything behind the Iron Curtain was ‘East’. I don’t think people mean anything bad by it, it’s just a habit πŸ™‚

I’d say it’s a bid to try convince the UK govt that there is an alternative to the F-35C.

If it comes in at significantly cheaper, is made in the UK, etc, would give it a chance of being considered. SAAB will have to move fast though, the UK has already ordered some F-35s, iirc?

RNZAF operate 757 not the 767 don’t they?

The 757 are getting older and more expensive to operate, moving to a joint replacement with C130 could be interesting but do they have the cash?

It would make sense, but agreed, I doubt they would be willing to spend out like that.

And yes, my typo there, they operate the 757

Both Japan and New Zealand have inquired about the A400M to handle humanitarian crises.

Airbus expects Far East orders for tsunami rescue aircraft

In the case of the RNZAF, would these be to replace or supplement the C-130H or 767?

Sorry, I did mean the gun is already fitted but I wasn’t clear πŸ˜‰

It was a classic story of MoD incompetence though, the money wasted on making something the exact same size, shape and weight of the gun before realising just purchasing the damn things in the first place was both cheaper and necessary….

    oh well πŸ˜€

    IIRC:

Thrust vectoring is a possibility for Tranche 3, if it ever gets ordered.

The UK will be fitting the BK27, but will not be purchasing ammunition for it.

Standard load for A2A for UK Typhoons is 4 AMRAAM, 2 ASRAAM and 2 fuel tanks.

    Indeed.

I think really the whole UOR situation highlights the general procurement problem. The MoD can’t fund things because of it’s shrinking budget, so troops wither go without or are forced to use the UOR for something it was never intended for.

The fact is that the budget needs to increase if the UK is going to be able to defend itself and its interests.

The low cost carriers still have a place, as their business model saves money in many areas compared to the traditional airlines.

Fuel will increase every airlines bill, but the cheapo ones will continue to offer a less expensive service.

And Citroen know this and haven’t done anything about it

In fairness to Citroen, they have issued a recall, says so in the report πŸ˜‰
