I am just wondering if the A400M will actually be the most suitable platform for replacing the herc in certain roles, such as special forces? I am sure the RAF and other future users are looking at expanded roles for the aircraft, any information on this?

Back on topic, the ammount of Hercs the RAF has lost in the last few years is beyond a joke, and in several instances simply because the MoD have refused essential equipment such as foam sealant for fuel tanks simply to save a few pennies here and there. How many have gone down, there was the special ops one shot down last year, one that hit a mine on landing in Afghanistan and now this one, 3 in about a year. I honestly hope that the crews are ok after this one.

Is the NSM too big to fit in the bays of the F35B now that it has been reduced in size?

    Lightning

I love the thing, but I often compare it to putting a machine gun on a Ferrari and giving it to the army,

it might be very fast, giving impressive performance, but in just about all other areas (maintainence, weaponry, range) it is lacking.

Doesn’t stop the Ferrari being nice though 😀

Is that photo of the Typhoon a photoshop job?

Maybe its just the perspective, but it looks to me like the two aircraft are so close that the wing of the aircraft furthest from the camera would be incredibly close to the fuselage of the one closest?

This guy proves exactly why there is a high portion of Americans that are truely dumb, it summed everything up when he opened up his ‘world clock’.

Exactly what the infantryman needs when fighting of forty insurgents singlehandedly with pepper spray whilst waiting for the blackhawk to come and save his sorry ass.

    John.

I take your point that the guy seems a little full of himself with a few ideas that are a little off the wall, but still, is inventions are incredibly impressive.

    ?

What with the ole’ exchange rate being almost $2 for £1, I reckon the RAF would be able to afford a few Raptors, we’ll take 150 please…….

    Ah, wishful dreaming 😀

    Thanks chaps!

I only thought of Bruntingthorpe as it was the closest place with a runway, but then again it might not be long enough for this bird!

Swerve and Dutchy are both right.
More so…RN SHAR´s never got anywhere near COAN SUE´s.

Same tactic used by leased iraqui SUE´s during Persian Gulf War. Sneack in, pop up, fire and forget, turn back home.

    King Jester

    Quite, I stand corrected 😮

They didn’t fare well against Harriers in the Falklands, but the Entard isn’t a fighter, its air-mud/sea.

I shall make myself more clear.

If the French students in your example want their own exclusive group, fine. But they should not expect to be let into other groups that want exclusive membership. If Christians want to discriminate against people joining their groups, or staying in their hotels (some object to gay patrons), then why should not gay people do the reverse?

Its entirely the same principle. In one case you say ‘you can’t join my group because of your beliefs, which i disagree with’. In the other scenario an employer may say ‘i disagree with your beliefs and think them to be wrong, so i will not hire you’.

Why should any group be allowed to discriminate for any reason? If one group is for whatever reason, why are not others? Either it is socially acceptable for all to do it or for nobody to do it.
