Hopefully we will see both deals go through, everyone wins 😉

It would be nice to see both birds in desert camo doing some joint training 😎

I think that brits already own about 1% of the total landmass of France 😀 😀
That’s where the most volatile housing market on the continent gets us!

In answer to the question, no, i disagree with building on green belt land. There are some things that should be conserved, and the tranquil countryside is definitely one of them.

How much longer is the C-17 line open?

I imagine that like the RAF, the RAAF will grow to like its new toys 😀 maybe some more C-17s in the future?

As i understand it, whilst the UK does not technically own outright its missiles, they are part of the joint USN/RN trident missile pool.

UK has all the means and know how to launch our birds even if the US doesn’t like it, but if the US withdraws its expertise then maintaining the missiles and warheads would be difficult or impossible.

That’s exactly what someone said on the news today “just communicate with them.”

I hope to the Lord that it was said in jest?

Where do these people come from, the lobotomy clinic?

I say convince China to stop sending them food and electricity until they give up their nuclear ambitions.

Ah yes, i misread your original post there, flex 😮

And on the subject of Swiss Mirages, I thought AFM had their retirement in an article over a year ago now?

If you look at the history of Spain within the 21st century, you will see that being a friend of Brits does not have a very long tradition there. Plus think of traditionally good relations between all Hispanic nations.. It was kinda surprising move, yes, but this is how it happened. I might look up the name of the Matador pilot in the old mags, if you really want.

Thats ok, flex, my curiosity has been satisfied. 🙂

I imagine the Spanish didn’t mean any harm by it, but it’s concerning for RAF/RN pilots who could conceivably end up fighting in the South Atlantic again. Then again, they wouldn’t stand much of a chance in Harrier Gr.7/9s against Mirages in any case.

OTOH, Spanish secretly sent out a Matador (AV-8A) instructor to Argentina to provide Argie pilots a crash course ‘How to fight a Harrier.’ :diablo: Pretty funny, it could have developed into one hell of a scandal..

I thought the Spanish were meant to be a NATO ally, oh well. I wonder how they would feel if the Brits supplied data on how to fight F-18s to Morocco? (Think Canary Island scenario).

Would the Kfir operated in the US. be designated an F-20 Lion?

I read the US used the kfir for a limited time (around the early 80s) , any details someone?

If memory serves they may have been used to help train British pilots in preparation for the Falklands war?

I get fed up by the arguments made by the CND. What do they suggest we do to rogue states if we give up our nukes? Ask them nicely not to develop their own weapons?

Engines mounted on a pylon are give easier access, and therefore simpler maintainence.

I had my suspicions, thanks for confirming them Richard.

I’d love to hear more about the incident you mention if you remember the details
