this anson was airworthy in Australia till at least the mid 80’s possibly later(as vh-baf)
and even masqueraded as the Boeing 247 in the mini series about the 1934 London to Melbourne air race.

how could you say that about another human being!!!!!
ive seen to much of the impact, people died there.
what has society come to when this is entertainment.
jimmy would hate to think that he cause this let alone that this was to become what it has to some people.

got to hate one of the comments on the link that bradburger put up.
“the plane and pilot were oldest participants in the reno air races”
the plane had been rebuilt only recently and jimmy’s medicals were above reproach according to rara,an incredibly sad day

this pic shows the tail wheel definitely out just before he hit

there is another photo out there you can clearly see the crowd in front of the plane.
the odd thing with the pic of it vertical to me seems that it is so clear and vertical, all the other stills show it trying to pull out.
blue skies jimmy leeward and the fans on the ground and they’re family and friends.

i was there in july, and overall i was impressed(but then i came all the way from oz) the lighting want great but that seems to be the way with museum’s at the moment(although the black hole that is the b,of,b hangar is a disgrace) and from what i could see a few of then aircraft were in need of some work(broken landing light cover on the beaufighter for instance)and i felt the Halifax was a perfect in showing that not every one made it home.

the one that flew out(a68-1) is owned by Wiley sanders(as far as i know no relation to the sanders that race seafuries)it was flown at reno a few times and is in a camouflage scheme with a kangaroo mural on one of the main gear doors. the others seem to have disappeared.

damn i’m going to have to get a bulk order on 1/72 tamiya mustang’s:eek:
and then work out how to make my own decals.
this could take awhile(especially as i’m doing it in it’s final scheme in 1/48th first):D

    thanks debbie
my dad and i had a ball, down here we only have 2 spits flying and a couple of others under restoration(the biggest single type was 7 mustangs in one place till i got up there).
dont take it for granted as most of us down here are very jealous 😉
but on the plus side we do have the only flying hudson and some people take that for granted 😮
if i get back i hope to see more air museums as i only got to hendon and you have so much history, even my wife had a ball(although she wasnt at legends :dev2:)

Because I was at Yeovilton:D seeing the Vulcan and Sea Vixen in formation was enough for me:D.
BTW nice display from the An-2, first time I have seen the display despite seeing it at Popham every flyin. Which is where I will be tomorrow as I need a rest!
