great to hear this project has finally reached it’s test running stage and look forward to seeing pic’s of it in the near future.
btw southern railway had a hole class dedicated to the battle of britain and each member of this class was named after an raf fighter squadron.

i hadnt heard the little jeannie was up for sale let alone sold a great loss to the warbird comunity down here but also a great gain for the french she is a beutiful example of a late model p40 plus it’s a real warbird with actual combat history, the colours that she’s in are her orignal combat colours.
1 whirlwind(****** kestrals i want peregrins:D )
2 j7w1 shinden (someone distract the security at the nasm)
3 a 20
4 ki 84(we’ve done ki 43 so why not)

6 dh dragon rapeid(a gentile mans airial carrige)
scorpian
your right about the h6k but it hink your wrong about the ki 84 i think it’s more likley to be a ki 43 i dont think the indoneaians had any ki 84’s a few ki 43’s and one or two ki 61’s
paul
i dont know what the markings on the hickory are but could be surender marking do you have a side shot?the flying boat is a kawanishi h6k mavis.

i like the way the raaf museums douglas db7 has been restored as the last time it flew and i think for historicly important airframs this is the way to go, altho the awm has restored their wirraway by back dating it’s airframe mods to the way it looked when it shot down a nakijima ki43 it’s most important feat historicly.
so both ways have their advantages if the wirraway had been preserved as it last flew then it would have looked like any of a dozen wirraways that are around in the post war silver with the ca-16 chin scoop but now it tell of the struggle when australias first line of defense was a handfull of fighter trainers.
whilst the db7 is as the only raaf winner of the victoria cross in the pacific flew this plane on a couple of occasions a major part of raaf history.
paul
there’s no hurricanes in png or the sollemans but there maybe around burma and maybe some other intresting types
paul
jerry’s ki61 and 3 others have under restoration for a couple of years now hopefully the first one should fly in the next few years
paul
damn mark after all these years and i’m not an aussie:eek: (i must have missed out on my injection
paul(the sleeper)
the mb5
and the ca 15 if it was’nt for our “partners the us”stuffing around with which version fo the pw r2800 too use it would have flown at least 12 months earlier and made it into production and proved it self to be one of the great fighter of late ww11 and early post war,if it wasnt for the british it may have never flown at all.
hell yeah!!!!!
may be wangaratta can be convinced (if i won the lottery)to do one as they have most of the jiggs already
paul
i read somewhere that the ki84 was designed to use the production jiggs of the ki43 sooo could a new build ki84 be built from the jiggs the texas aircraft factory made for their new build ki43’s? if so i’ll have one of them to,that’ll put the cats amonst the pidgeons:dev2:
the b24 that’s being restored only has the wings from png the fuselage and id came from an ex raaf one recovered from in gippsland(south easter australia).
it’s great to see the recoverys happening(inspite of mr taylon)as we need survivors from both sides,if it wasn’t for forward thinker like david and charles these thing would all be gone.
i hope theat swamp ghost is finally resolved soon as if it’s kept in the salt air to long it may not be worth restoring.
as to vegemite i hate the stuff it’ just an aussie saying when your very happy and all this japanese stuff makes me very happy:D
paul i might still be a little sick 😮 😉 as i like beaufighters more than mosquito’s:p
ps didn’t they also talk about the black pass b17
i’m hoping for at least 1 ki 46-11 as imho it’s one of the best loking aircraft of the war,i just cant get over the scale of these recoveries as for years i’ve been wanting to see japanese aircraft but never thought i would other than zero’s now the potencial is for a fair representation of a number of types and various uses, since getting the charles darby book ive though that leaveing the petes, jakes, betty’etc was a major waste now it looks like we’re going to see these and more:D .
paul
now we just need a beaufighter and mosquito to fly and i’m a happy little vegimite;)
