The detailed part of this history of Kingaroy airfield does not mention 618 Squadron…

Two important factors behind the testing in Australia:
There were a couple of Mosquitos that crashed into Sydney suburbs early in the programme. I don’t remember the cause of the other crash. In one case some of the debris came down in a primary school just a short walk from where I live now.
This is unrelated to the Mosquito with registration MM141. It relates to the wing with production component serial number MM141. As the report says, it is Mk.40 Wing s/n… MM stands for Mosquito Mainplane. There was a thread some time back that discussed all of this sort of thing.

You need to read beyond the first few posts to get to the point where the conversation starts ironing out the misunderstandings.

Thanks Terry.
Does Marine Salvage Ltd in Portsmouth still exist?
I bought some things from them (can’t remember the guy’s name) in 2001. At that time he had a lot of Goblin spares.
Worth pursuing? I would be interested to know.
aircraftclocks – thanks for post #33. Thanks P&P and Dave – all info helpful.
Does anybody know the origin of this document? Does the Air part of “Controller of Supplies (Air)” mean Air Ministry? I haven’t seen this style of document before. What does ADSAE stand for? RD Inst?
Thanks Alan. Much appreciated.
Happy New Year.
That’s a lot of characters, Cred. I think I can cross Ghost off the list.
Hi Alan. I would appreciate a copy. In the Australian single-seat Vampire parts book, usually, the part numbers only are called out. Thanks.
Got it!
Thanks Elliot and others for info on Exactor controls.
Thanks Terry – have replied.
Does anyone know what other aircraft types had the Exactor unit shown in Elliot’s post #257? I bought one at an automotive swap meet in Bendigo, Australia, last month. The seller was an automotive person and knew nothing about it. Some other guy told me it is from Avro Anson. I guess if it is just a hydraulic ‘switch’ of sorts, it need not necessarily be pitch control – may have other uses. Being an Australian find, I did’t think it would be for Whitley. It appears to be identical to Elliot’s units. I can’t find a p/n on it.
