Doesn’t look much like Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada to me!
That’s because it’s Abingdon,Oxfordshire,England….lovingly known as Abbo
JCB, 10 yard ditch, a few posts and a big sheet of sacking.
Of course, that would not really do for the ladies. Better plant some bushes for them.
😀 😀
believe it or not…that has been suggested…(or a free shovel with every admission???)
Loos do seem to be a perennial headache for us…..
every year we book extra, but still have the same problems????????????
Another problrem is,even they have to be paid for….any leads on a more cost-effective solution for 2007 gratefully recieved
I would guess Pembroke as well…..
especially as we had G-BNPH/WV740 arrive at Abingdon today for static display at the Air & Country Show. She came from the south too
Colin
Sorry, saw Neil and the forumites mentioned, but couldn’t hang around as the cold enforced the call of nature!! 😉
😀 😀 😀
I know what you mean mate… 😉
Albert
think I spotted you from a distance matey…I was there as Press Officer,NeilP was there as Organiser and Armwaver was there waving his arms!!!!!!!!!!!
Superbly successful event….roll on 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll be wearing black flight-suit and yellow hi-viz and a AbFayre Staff badge
Prob airside at 1300hrs doing an escorted Press Flightline walk but look out for me throughout the day and say “Hi!!!!”
Colin
Good luck with the show – hope the weather holds!
TT
Cheers matey………………………
I’ve been informed that Abingdon’s resident Vigilants will not be flying on Sunday so if you’re desperate to see one in the air you’ll need to turn up a day early.
Aeronut
One Vigilant is due to fly in the display, with at least onbe other on static
Show area now taking shape quite nicely, first arrivals due tomorrow, more(plus Display Rehaersals) Saturday, and the mass arrivals on Sunday.
My take on the latest weather is,we’ll just about get away with a good day before the rain comes early evening…not quite as good as last year,but…………..
Hope to see you all Sunday
Colin
Aching arms ahead for us all then OAG…
Think parking will be interesting….We do like a challenge don’t we????
Nothing beyond your esteemed capabilities matey…………………. 😉 😉
It must have been an epic. The viz was pretty dire in the Cambridge area so I couldn’t make it. How many visitors turned up? The VAC have had some rotten luck with the weather this year so let’s hope the “Big One” in September breaks their duck.
OZPLANE
Give-or-take one or two we had about 40 visitors…………
Quite a nice selection as well……MH Broussard,Cessna O-1 Bird Dog,Cessna T303,Luton Minor,Yak 52,several Jodels etc.
Quite a bit of activity from Fenland’s fleet of based aircraft too……..
As a colleague of AW’s,I can say it was good to be able to do some marshalling at last, even if my arms are still aching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all pilots/crews who supported this event and hopefully see you all again
Colin

Guys
two weeks to go and a small update………………
the R.Navy Lynx has had to scrub from the show….lack of a crew!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In it’s place,we’re hoping to welcome the Me108 G-ETME in the flying display.
Also flying in for static,we’re hoping to welcome Civilian Coupe,Curtiss-Wright Travelair,Messenger,Magister or Ryan PT22,Turbulents and Stampe.
See you all there on April 30th…………………

Have to be honest mate,I wouldn’t be too sure about that either….certainly don’t think I’ve ever seen one doing aeros……………
Usually when this question is asked of that area it turns out to have been an Italian piston-engined jobby that’s locally based and finished in WW2-style cammo.
Now if only I could remember what

I think you’re thinking of the Fiat G46,G-BBII, that used to be based at Booker(is it still there??).
The Me108 is,I believe, based at White Waltham, and,if I’m correct, would be an equally valid candidate for this particular sighting
