heres a capture from the DVD…
WOOHOO!
Congratulations indeed! Look forward to seeing some more photos of her in the air where she belongs. Well done to everybody involved in this exciting project.
Thumbs UP!:D
clip the wings, fill her with a potion of super octane fuel and send her to reno 😀
Thanks Daz. She is a dream come true. Flys beautifully and looks gorgeous. That trophy incidentally was won last week at my local club Concours. The Spitfire won ‘Best Overall Model’. – Me = Chuffed.
The Mick Reeves Spitfire certainly has the perfenct scale outline. Check out this picture showing the classic Elliptical wing…

Have to see if we can arrange some form of forum gathering on the day (1st August). Chances are I will spend most of Sunday running around like an idiot again, however if I can get away with it I will try to arrange a few hours off to watch at least some of the display this year.
Indeed. It’s a great show, great atmosphere and if anyone hasn’t been yet, go this year! Put it in the diary NOW!
We’ll sort out the details nearer the time, but it will be a good oppertunity for us all to meet up.
1. MH434, has been with OFMC ‘officially’ since 1983 and is currently at DX along with P-51D Ferocious Frankie and their AT-6.
2. Yes. I believe she is hangered at East Kirby at the moment waiting for ex-BBMF boss Paul Day to have a fiddle with her for this years season.
I like this one…
…Cos it’s mine

It sounded extremely impressive as Phil Shaw carried out his practice display on the Saturday before Wings and Things last year, not normally a jet person myself but this made me put down what I was doing and stand and watch the entire display.
Yes, very impressive last year at Woodchurch! That was one of the best Hunter displays i’ve seen in a long time. And of course an excellent backdrop helped!
Looking forward to this years Wings and Things, I might actually get to meet you this time Chris, if you can find some free time from playing with the ‘big boys toys’ :p :p 😀

BTW that makes 2 XIIs a Mk I and and IX so far. XIIs taking over again 🙂
lol – we’re just a bunch of Spitfire nuts. Nothing to be ashamed of. 😀
I think he uses a .gif file. it’s basically an animated image done in Animation Shop Pro or something like that. Each frame of a video is imported into the program where you can set the parameters etc and then save it as desired file type. In this case it will be .gif so that it is websafe and the file size is kept to a minimum – hope this helps.
i am nearly in tears here! My whole body tingles; the footage of the breitling team is awesome, looks like i missed a bloody good show!
Certainly will miss the team, it was something very, Very special indeed.
Well done to OFMC for putting such a big smile on my face over the last couple of years!
Great to hear that he is ok. My heart skipped a beat when i first read this thread!
The cat looks ok, but remember the forces on the structure when it overturns. Warbirds are a lot heavier than modern aircraft of similar size and the forces on the fuselage when in this type of accident may well be worse than can at first be evident. Remember BF109 Black 6 when it overturned, it broke its back.
lets hope for the best though, and just be thankful that Mr Pardue is ok.
thanks for all the great photos, happy memories indeed!
I remember the end of year show at DX last year, i took my sister, a keen horse rider to show her real horse power. Thankfully, she now sees why warbirds are so fantastic after witnessing the brietlings final UK display and the La9 grunt its way down the flightline at light speed!
You don’t know what you’ve got, til it’s gone (hey didnt i start a thread like that a few months ago?! 😉 )
Shocking. I am lost for words.
Last year at Biggin Hill, OFMC arrived with three spitfires and their corsair as the Bretling Team for the weekend. Mustang was u/s and the p-40 was on pending paperwork IIRC.
It was one of the best Breitling displays i ever saw, and they were absolutely spot-on! Ray even led the team down into the valley to gain that extra ‘energy’ before a loop and you could hear the crowd hold their breath for a split second – wonderful.
Spitfire display – I think it is a great idea! Perhaps a trio of Mk.IXs would be best.
p.s. for anyone who wishes to know, The Breitling Team for Biggin Hill 2003 consisted of OFMC Spitfire IX MH434, HFL Spitfire XVI TD248, HFL Spitfire XVIII SM845 and OFMC Corsair.
