Thanks. I`ve never actually seen a Chinese Mi-6, I just read about it. Any photos?

BTW, what exactly have those Mi-24 pics of yours with the Ka-50 vs Mi-28 talk?

Flex…the thread name is “Mi-24 combat record”. We are OT 😀

And to continue the OT. How many Mi-28 are so far in active service?

One Mi-10 is operated by UTAir. There might be some Mi-6s flying for the Chinese.

It`s a good start for the Polish Falcons.

Of course it`s not dangerous. Otherwise it wouldn`t be cleared for flight operations. I`m saying that a pilot must be aware of the fact that above he has 2 rotors that might strike each other if he pushes it too much.
Like Data (Star Trek) said: I`ll never understand the need for humans to drive at unsafe velocities.

A bullet in the head would have saved everyone much time and money and preferably do it on live television to demonstrate justice being done.

That`s exactly what talibans did in Afghanistan….and they thought it was justice.

Nice book you got there. I`ll be sure to purchase it when I`ll see it.

I was thinking at NoE limitations. You have to be pretty aware of the helicopter limitations not to make the blades cross paths. I don`t think any freshman from flight academy will ever set foot in the Ka-50.

Thanks, Flex, you are a jewel. The question that pops in my head is: why didn`t they use the K-37 to eject?

I read somewhere, I don`t think I was dreaming, that the Russians gave the green light for mass production (around 24 helicopters I think) of the Ka-50/52 in paralel with Mi-28. Sorry, I have no source to back my words.

I heard many times that coaxial rotor helicopters are lazyer in pedal turn than the clasic rotor counterpart.

…anything to do with the multinational and almoust international language called vodka??? :diablo:

…and when comming to long words you indoeuropeans just don’t play even in the same league…

    few non-compound nouns…

    naaraamattaankaanpahan
    kaakatattajatartaankaanhan
    infinitiivillisimpiisikin

..and some compound nouns…the first one was actually areal military term:

    lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas

    or..

    sinipunanuolimyrkkysammakkolelutehdashallikorttelipoliisivirkapukusuunnittelijaerhopöytäkirjakokoelma

    how about this one?

    kumarreksituteskenteleentuvaissehkollaismaisekkuudellisenneskenteluettelematomammuuksissaansakaankopahan

(hehe the vbulletin board doesen’t even write those words completely…thus the caps seeing between letters)

Finnish is truel the promised language for compound words…

You have got to be joking. I can`t even read that. That`s a tongue twister.

Tha Ka-52 has been employed along side the Mi-24 over Chechya, however some of the conclusions they got is basicly the ka-50 is a quit complex machine, it has better agility than the Mi-28 to say the least, but it is far more complex and quit expensive, further more the coaxial blades arrangement despite it allows the Ka-50 to spin up to 180 degrees and keep its forward flight path, has the unconvinience of more vulnerability and has cause crashes in the past.
When it was operated in Chechya the Ka-29 served as target designators for the Ka-50

Ka-50 in Chechnya yes (two helicopters), Ka-52 I doubt it. I don`t think Ka-50 has better agility than Mi-28. Other than changing the direction it looks and keep going in other direction at 100km/h the Ka-50 can`t do anything better than Mi-28. Because of its rotor system, the Ka-50, has quite a few limitations when maneuvring at high speeds. The advantage of the Ka-50 is that it can operate in high wind conditions (proven by its predecesors) and that it uses all available power for lift.

SA-7 is not very effective at all… the Launch firing window is rather small … only in rear aspect…

Thanks for the info, but I ment that once launched and the helicopter is hit…the efect is the same as if it was hit by SA-14 or 16.

Also in those picture you can see those Mi-24 without Exhaust Hiding devices… it seems that they forgot A-stan lessons.

    That device is called EVU.

Yet effective. One blow to the external fuel tanks…and puff…it is going down. Thos are sad pictures, MLD.

Besides the external shape, what are the differences between Mi-24 and Mi-17 in terms of the systems onboard (hydraulics, electrics, gear box, autopilot, etc)?
