The only Mi-6 you`ll find for buying are in museums or scrap yards….if you want that…it`s fine by me.
I just have to add more praising words regarding your pics, Curahee, mate.. Some of them are truly unbelievable..
Just for the record, all Vietnamese *Mi-8s* you have posted are actually Mi-17s. The Vietnamese *W-3 Sokol* helicopter is in reality AS332 Super Puma..
Flex, mate…that`s a Mi-8…not a Mi-17. The 3rd photo posted by Curahee80 in post #530 is a Mi-8. Look at the blades of the main rotor, at the tail number and at the engine exhaust. These is what gives it up for a Mi-8.
If this is a mistake…..it sure is an expensive one!
Hm…last day in the army? 😀
This thing reminds me of a line from a “Exit wounds” with Steven Seagal. When Anthony Anderson and DMX went car shopping..and Anderson says when he hears how much the car costs “285(285,000$)? It better s*ck and f*ck for 285”
guys…it’s just plexiglass man…don’t have a cow over it
Plexiglass…..which includes in the composition other materials…like gold….and perhaps other fancy materials. Don`t forget…this is state of the art stealthy plexiglass canopy.
Why do they need to have everything automatic? Wouldn’t they save costs, room and weight by not using such useless items?
Nic
Then it wouldn`t be state of the art, d`oh. :p
Flex cant help himself, he is one of the enemys of freedom, the sort of person camp x-ray was built for. In a previous thread he tried to argue that Sadam Hussein was NOT a brutal dictator. The man just hates America and everything it stands for.
Oh, that cracked me up.
“the enemies of freedom”…sounds just like “the enemies of the people” in the good ol` commie days arround here.
“the man just hates America and everything it stands for”. Exactly…what does America stand for?
The next thing you`ll tell me is that God said in the Bible “Let there be America land of the freedom”
I don`t know where you`re from, but I can guess….and I can tell you…you know squat about freedom. Try living under the worst totalitarian regime in Eastern Europe for half a century…and then we`ll talk about freedom and what it means.
To me American external policy looks exactly like Lenins agenda at the beginning of the 20th century. He wanted to export comunism……guess what America is copying now?…only it exports….freedom. And we know how Lenins plan ended up.
what about helicopters..
For small and loud….the award goes to R-22. It sounds like a flying chainsaw. I was amased how small it is and how much noise it makes. Also loud is the APU (AI-9V) of the Mi-17. For such a small engine it`s incredibly loud and it`s also a flame throwing ******.
For big and loud goes to two Mi-10s I saw some 10 years ago.
What a shame…what a shame for such an expensive plane.
I wonder what whole in the budget the cut canopy did ?
You gotta love those cheap simple hand operated old fashion canopies.
I see everyone is including formations of aircraft. Than I can include my 5 MiG-21s in formation, full afterburner 50 meters away at 15 meters altitude. After they landed I talked to one of the pilots… I quote “we were doing just 850km/h”.
The sound just slams you hard in the chest. After they passed you could smell the burned grass. An engineer tried to warn us they`re coming low and fast…but…he didn`t had the chance to finnish.
Su-27 and the Viggen. These are the loudest I`ve ever heard.
One Su-27 makes more noise than the entire Frecce Tricolori team.
I think that`s a Romanian Sturmovik. Check the photo below, it`s a photo taken by me at the Romanian Aviation Museum last summer.
No problemo…..now you make me like I need glasses :p
Gauntlet…you need glasses

Please don`t make me point it out with a red square and an arrow.
